The House Of Love [The German Album] - Singles Collection

What can you say about a band that has a song like "Shine On" in its catalogue? Blimey, pop can't get much better than that. And yeah, everybody should already know that the best version is the original Creation one included in this collection."Destroy the Heart" is another total winner, all up-tempo and circular riffs. Chadwick's cool but emotional vocal delivery and Bickers'guitars together created such a raw and subtle ambience around those apparently light but morbid words. On this album Andrea, the German guitarist is still in the band and her voice offers a sweet female counterpoint to Chadwick's (she also sings the lead on "On The Hill"). The rest of the songs, despite maybe not reaching the heights of the aforementioned masterpieces, are still beautiful and rich in details and arrangements that keep your attention going while still moving.. sometimes your heart and sometimes your feet. Buy if you like: Felt, The Church, Belle & Sebastian, Echo & The Bunnymen, Arcade Fire.. and probably also Franz Ferdinand and the likes. Ah, and don't forget to buy also their self-titled debut album on Creation.

I haven't heard this in years as my vinyl copy is very crackly. However I wasn't disappointed it still sounds fresh and the songs are still top notch. Definitely worth checking out.
