Coming back to buy another 2 of these now that I’ve expanded by SD bread making skills. Heavy duty, perfect size to make at least enough starter for 2 big loaves at once without overflow. Easy to clean/scrape and feed starter, the sides are straight and at a slight angle. Wide mouth opening is very big, better than others I’ve used. Seals tight, can use for anything really, like coffee, oatmeal, rice, beans. Works well for my needs. Even looks pretty on my just sitting on counter.

I am new to the sourdough world. I looked at many options for a sourdough starter jar. Many people complained about the thin, fragile glass of many of the jars I reviewed. Then I found this one! The glass is thick making it feel very durable and the sides are straight making it easy to stir and clean the sides. The thin spatula is a great tool for both stirring and cleaning up the inside wall of the jar. The band works well to help you determine how much the starter has risen. I’m sure I could use a rubber band for that purpose but it is a nice addition to the set. The size of the jar seems to be pretty perfect for my needs. The silicone gasket and clips are an easy way to seal the jar when storing the starter in the refrigerator. It is easy to clean both by hand or in the dishwasher. If I were looking to purchase another sourdough jar, I’d buy this one again.

Great for starting out. Just not a fan of the cloth covers. Using the glass jar unsealed works great when waiting on your starter to peak. The cloth ones can cause mold so I don’t know why so many companies include one.

This is my favorite jar to feed, store and maintain my sourdough starter. The glass is thick and sturdy. I love that I can loosely place the lid on when waiting for the rise on the counter, or I can use the clips for an air tight seal to store in the fridge. I’ve noticed I don’t get as much “hooch” on my starter while in the fridge when I use this jar vs. other brands. I’ll be buying additional.

Very easy to use, like the wide top it makes it easy to remove the discard and feed the starter.

Still giving 3 stars because I’ll be able to keep and use the thermometer, elastic “level band”, and the jar itself for pens or something. I just won’t use it for starter. But I made sure I had those clips on properly. Made starter and it was approximately 1/4 of the way full. Woke up this morning and the starter had come out the top and dripped down the sides. Wasn’t air tight for me, and like I said, I made very sure the lid was on properly. The jar is thick, quality glass. Very sturdy and it’s pretty.

Starter must have.
