Wrasses & Parrotfishes: The Complete Illustrated Guide to Their Identification, Behaviors, and Captive Care (Reef Fishes)

This is indeed a reference guide to all the fish you could or shouldn't keep in your aquarium. It started as a series of 5 books, now it's resceduled for 8. You can reed them as seperate books, without having to buy the others. Most editions include more group than stated in the titel, so make sure you look at the content to know what's in there. Before you decide on buying any fish buy this book! Even if you bought your fish already it's still usefull for background information on biology and (if possible) reproduction.This book is really as stated in the titel on 'wrasses and parrotfishes'. There's enough information on the species in the two groups to fill a whole edition.

As with all Scott W Michaels' books that are in my possession, this too is an excellent reference book. Good quality publication. Plenty of decent photos for reference. A breath of fresh air to read such highly informative literature.

If your anything like me and love all things MotoGP then I cant rate this book highly enough!Fantastic insight into the last 60 years of MotoGP including top quality colour photos, technical discussions and rider info.Great Read!

Absolutely brilliant book , very well illustrated and informative . Only downside is the printing company has now stopped the series and has at least another five volumes worth of info which includes blennies and surgeon fish .always someone spoiling the party .

Reviewed for web site:- whats that fish. Wonderful book, full of pictures and information, a must have for anydiver or aquarium hobbyist! My only criticism is the lack juvenilepictures and lack of Parrotfishes compared to Wrasses but this could bedue to the fact that most Parrotfish grow to large for a tank!

Bought this as a crimbo present for a friend and had a quick leaf through it and enjoyed what little i read. after asking my m8 to let me read book after he had finished i found many interesting fact, gr8 pics & some good interviews with stars of past & present, liked it so much i got my own copy

What it said on the ouitside of the tin was great, but there is very little in this book, just alot of mediocre, filler-photos to pad it out and some very sketchy text that could've been lifted from one of the mags. I enjoy actually reading about the sport and the characters and for that price I expected alot of detail, but you could digest this book in a couple of hours. Very disappointing.

this book is still in very good condition eventhough this is a used book, very informative for fish hobbist from the great Scott W. Michael

Tout comme les autres livres de la série "Reef Fishes" de Scott W. Michael, ce livre est une merveille.Chaque genre ou espèce de labres, poissons perroquets,... y est décrite avec énormément de details et d'informations très pertinentes.Nombreux sont les livres sur les labres, pourtant c'est la premiere fois que je trouve un livre référençant TOUTES les espèces de façon exhaustive.(Kuiter et Debellius par exemple ne couvrent ni les poissons perroquets ni les labres de grande taille tels que Choerodon ou Thalassoma)Les photos sont moins nombreuses et plus petites que dans la collection Ulmer, mais les informations sur le mode de vie, l'alimentation (dans la nature et en aquarium), les relations inter et intra spécifiques, la tolerance (ou intolerance) aux médicaments, les soins,... font de ce livre LA reference ultime en la matière.Je n'imagine plus acheter un poisson sans au préalable ouvrir les livres de la collection "Reef fishes".

Reef Fishes Series の第５弾。多数の見事なカラーでベラ科及びブダイ科の仲間を一挙に紹介した良書。レイアウトも良く、またこれまで通りの大変詳しい解説は読みやすく、著者自身ダイヴァーとして彼らの生態はもちろん、さらにアクアリストとして飼育法まで事細かに記述してある。　まず大きなグループ毎に整理し属の紹介、次いで種類を並べた。但し種類があまりに多いため、似た種類、あるいは近似種の文中で紹介している魚種もかなりある。さらに知られているベラだけで４７０種類あるが、毎年新種が発表されており、全てをカヴァーした訳ではない。　写真は海底写真が大部分を占め、必要に応じカラー・ヴァリエーションや幼魚、雄の婚姻色なども配してある。ポピュラー種はほとんど全て、稀種やつい最近記載された種類まで実に豊富で、最新の知見を得ることが出来る。写真は彼自身のものが多いが、他に一流ダイヴァーのものも多く使用し、シリーズの他の図鑑同様、日本人一流ダイヴァーの海底写真も多用した。　ブダイの仲間は後半の５０ページを占めるが、膨大なイトヒキベラの項と同じページ数になった。推薦書。なお、今まで宣伝していた表紙と異なる作りとなった。
