Burns hot with good flame
There seems to be two types of fire starters: 1) wax impregnated fiber squares that you break apart; and 2) wax impregnated strands that are rolled into small bunches. This fire starter the is latter. Both are easy to use, just light them. The rolls burn hotter with a larger flame. The squares burn with a one inch flame and the rolls burn with a two inch flame. The rolls are a bit messy because the strands are brittle and leave crumbs. The problem with squares these days is that there is a tendency to go cheap on the wax so it doesn't burn like before. Seems like it's mostly just fibers burning. The E500 burns hot and long. It lights easy. It will definitely get your brickets burning faster than the squares. If you're starting a wood fire, you want to go with the E500.

Wish I'd known about these sooner!
We have about 30 bonfires a year... Sometimes for family time, sometimes to burn sticks. Wish I'd known about these sooner. Just gather some dried up leaves or twigs and light one of these on top! Fire Lasts for a long time even after a couple of rainy days.

This charcoal starter will get the job done, but not for a large pit
It's not as big as the ad implies

EASY light fire starter.
It only takes a spark to get this fire going! We use a wood burning stove to heat our home. I usually start my fires with a torch and old cardboard with a little pine to really get things going. Bought these fire starters on a whim and have absolutely loved them. They make it easy to start and walk away.I still make a small pile of old cardboard and then place one of the fire starters on top - since we heat our home with wood, I don't have to use one every time when the coals are still hot in the morning, but if there is any trouble, one of these will speed of the new fire. And, is actually does only take a spark to get it going, with the spark on my propane torch, I don't need to use any gas - it will start right up! So easy!!

Great fire starter.
Great fire starters. Works even better if you slightly untwist the starter first.
