This sounds like complete nonsense based on pseudo-science and showmanship. Is it really just the app and equipment combo equivalent of snake oil?

Modius is applying the findings of science dating back 40 years.  The device uses a low level of stimulation to affect the vestibular system, which then indirectly impacts the hypothalamus, the part of the brain associated with controlling body fat, metabolism and appetite.  The hypothalamus interprets these signals as physical activity and responds accordingly.  We understand people are going to be sceptical because this is revolutionary and sounds almost too good to be true.  However it's a non-invasive way to help the body become leaner - it's just not a quick fix and requires patience, as everyone's body will respond differently and the low level stimulation is trying to reverse years of a person's body evolving to its current weight.  80% of users who are self reporting data and have completed 90 sessions have lost an average of 7lbs.

Does this product have medical device certification with the mhra or other body?

Accepted Answer

Modius is considered a consumer wellness device as an aid to weight loss and is not classified as a medical device with the FDA or MHRA.  We are in regular contact with these bodies to ensure we adhere to any regulations.

Question 3

For the 20% of users that report no weight loss after 3 months, what are they doing wrong?

Accepted Answer

There are many complex factors involved in weight loss which make it more difficult for some individuals to lose weight than others, eg underactive thyroid, medications, family history, what weight you were as a child, gut health, stress... the list goes on.  As a result, it is likely to take much longer to see results where a number of these factors are added into the mix.   Whilst some users report changes within a few weeks, for others it may take a few months.  However, we are finding that with consistent usage (at least 5-6 times per week), most people will see results.  Changes are also not necessarily evident on the scales right away either - users are noticing a change in their body shape as fat is lost and their body composition alters.  
Modius subtly changes the brain's signals in relation to appetite and users have noticed they are feeling fuller quicker and not craving carbs as much, so we would encourage people to listen to the signals coming from their brain.
We do however recognise that Modius may not work for everyone which is why we offer the 90 day return period.

Question 4

I would like to know what sort of sensation you get while using the device, and whether everyone gets the slight motion sickness I’ve read about?

At first it feels just like a light pin prick ensatuon but it doesn’t hurt. You have to go through the settings from 1 - 10 until you feel like you are a little drunk/ swaying but it doesn’t make you feel sick at all. It tells you that once you have this sensation of rocking/ swaying then that is your level.
