Basic Pneumatics: An Introduction to Industrial Compressed Air Systems and Components

I get this book for all my new engineers

Just what I needed.

This book has the information I was looking for and will be a great reference book for my job.

good book for start

It is not as easy to read as the description would have you believe. There are some equations an a lot of schematic diagrams that take an engineering degree to decipher, or at least a decent understanding of pneumatic diagramming. You do get instruction, but I would rather see the part being discussed as well as the diagram as it shows on the cover. That's not so much the case between the covers. This is the impression of someone familiar with electronic diagrams, but hasn't worked with pneumatics before.

Even considering that this is an introduction to pneumatics, it is very, very, very basic. I think that the author could have done more to explain each component - currently, there is only a quick blurb about each part. Each section doesn't go into much depth at all. Most of the information in this book can be easily found doing a quick search online. This book appears to intended to be used in a class because you need access to pneumatic components to do the exercises (of which there are only a few). As for the tests, they are okay, I suppose. The last test show components that haven't even been covered in the book. I'd only recommend this book for someone who has absolutely no knowledge of pneumatics and are not comfortable searching this information online.

Good as a very basic primer, but not for automation or manufacturing pneumatic circuits.

High school seminary papers are better than this book.
