A Rain Reserve diverter system offers modern solutions to grandma’s old-fashioned rain barrel problems. It creates a totally closed system, eliminating breeding grounds for mosquitoes & drowning dangers for children or small animals. The diverter filters debris, preventing it from entering the holding container. Flexible lengths of tubing allow your container can be placed away from the downspout for convenient, aesthetically- pleasing placement or concealment. The Rain Reserve Complete diverter kit comes with everything you need for quick & simple installation, including diverter, tubing, high-flow spigot, spigot adaptor, sealed fittings, Teflon tape, garden hose adaptor, and downspout adaptor. Whether your goal is to save money on utilities, save water, to have a source of chemical-free water for your lawn & garden, or to help save the environment; Rain Reserve is the answer. Your Rain Reserve system has the capability to incorporate multiple containers with the purchase of the Daisy chain kit, or for increase at a later date with an expansion kit. & as a commitment to our environment, the Rain Reserve utilizes green materials including bio-plastic & recycled material, & it is made in the USA with all American components. The Complete Double capacity Rain Reserve rain diverter kit comes with all the parts for dual filling (parallel filling) & can connect two rain barrels/water tanks directly to the Rain Reserve rain diverter, eliminating the need to purchase the expansion kit.

Didn't have a drill bit
This came without all of the parts. There is no drill bit, despite having it in the picture.

Relatively easy install, love the divert feature!
We have a rain barrel bought on sale from the county so it is not a RainReserve Rain Barrel. Originally, we just put the barrel at the bottom of the drainpipe and rain filled it during storms. After about 20 minutes in one storm, the barrel was full and rain was overflowing the barrel right up against the foundation of the house. So we hooked the normal drainpipe system back up and basically had to manually divert water each time the barrel needed to be refilled. After purchasing this kit, my mildly handy husband was able to install it in the middle of our drainpipe and attach it to the rain barrel in about an hour and a half. It took a little longer because he sawed the drainpipe to fit the in-line diverter piece and then drilled a hole in the rain barrel to connect the piping from the drainpipe diverter to the barrel. The install was pretty easy even though we're using a generic rain barrel. Having ALL the pieces did make install a little easier for those of us not necessarily tool inclined. Other than a drill (and the barrel of course), we didn't need to get any extra screws or gaskets or anything. We've been through several storms now and have a nice full rain barrel. The divertor works great. Once the barrel was full, the water was shunted down the drainpipe and away from the house. Added bonus - you can open a little window in the divertor and watch the which way the water is going.

So I had to drive 30 or so miles to Home Depot to get a 1 ½ “ hole saw and pay $10 for it and waste 2 hours of time that was req
PRODUCT IS NOT AS ADVERTISEDWhat the listing on Amazon says:“RainReserve 2012303 Rain Barrel Complete Diverter Kit (Barrel Not Included)”“Everything you need to create a sealed rainwater collection system, including the hole saw”Product Description:“The RainReserve Complete Diverter Kit comes with everything you need for quick and simple installation, including diverter, tubing, high-flow spigot, spigot adaptor, sealed fittings, Teflon tape, garden hose adaptor, downspout adaptor, and a 1 and 3/16 inch hole saw bit.”WHAT THE REALITY IS:There is NO hole saw in the package. I didn’t think that would be a problem since I had another Rain Reserve at our old house and still had the hole saw.BUT, now the kit has been changed and the hole size needs to be 1 ½” so a 1 3/16” saw will not cut it.The instructions that came with the kit show the hole saw as something that is NOT included and has to be purchased by the buyer so the “everything you need to create a sealed rainwater collection system, including the hole saw” is totally wrong. So I had to drive 30 or so miles to Home Depot to get a 1 ½ “ hole saw and pay $10 for it and waste 2 hours of time that was required for the installation.

Great Product
I purchased three different Diverter Kits and returning the other two. Last night rain, collected 40 gallons of water. I liked best was the way the water overflows into the gutter when barrel is full. Measure your downspout! If it is an odd size 13/4 X 23/4 (like mine) this kit will not fit. I called and talked to customer service. They will be designing an adapter to fit my old downspout. It is usable though, if you replace the bottom of your downspout with a 2 X 3 standard section. It worked out perfectly for me. It has to be cut anyway. I went to Home Depot and bought a 2 X 3 X 10 ft piece of aluminum downspout ($13 ) and a 45 degree end piece. I used about 5ft of it to replace the bottom half of the downspout. It doesn't match but on the side of my house no one will see. If you have questions about this product, check the website. Great telephone support too! www.rainreserve.com

Seems to work well
Today was the first time it rained since I installed the system. I woke up to a completely filled 40 gallon drum of rain water. I have to say I was impressed at the pressure in which the water comes out with a full barrel. To the point that it catches the water and fills your barrel, yes it works. I also noticed some rain trickling out of the downspout since the barrel was full. (very little, it was not raining too hard at the time), so it does look like it will divert the water through your downspout when the barrel is full and not dump it along your foundation.Installation was easy enough, although I was a little concerned for the plastic fittings and the spout being careful not to press too hard as they might break. Other that that, the only negative thing I can say so far is the cheap little rabbit ear-like mounts used to mount it to the building. I can see them snapping off within a year or so, especially with the sun baking the unit and making the plastic brittle.

Make a pass on this....
Most reviews described how great this item was, and that is why I bought a pair of these. I ignored the not-so-great reviews and regret I did. These diverters are designed to get you everything that flushes down the downspout to your rain barrel. This may include trash, debris, roofing pebbles, insects and the like. You do not want that!! There is not an integral screen to at least divert away the water from the debris! All this item does is put water in a hose to deliver to your rain barrel. Then you would have to invest in post filtration items such as a floating screen hose to collect. You would not want to run the debris infested water through a water pump as doing so will cause damage. And you definitely don't want to be hoarding poor water either. Sure, it is made of molded plastic that really feels firm and it looks like it may last a few years, but I would recommend a rain diverter that will have the integrated screen at least to filter out the trash. About $20 more spent on a better quality diverter and you'll have something worth showing off. The Friskars rain diverter (black plastic) is cheaper than this one and will serve the purpose also, if you are budgeting your project. Don't like black: buy a can of spray paint.... Will be returning these back to Amazon ASAP.

Great product!
This product is great. I have three water barrels. When the barrels are full the water goes out the original way it was before. The barrel doesn’t overflow to make puddles.Keep the plastic caps, when you take the hose off in the winter to have to cap it.
