Exceptional 4K+ monitor at a decent price
Absolutely hands down the BEST monitor I've ever purchased. A true gaming monitor with a multitude of adjustments (height, swivel, screen rotation, etc). Picture quality is absolutely incredible 4K (seems higher) with zero issues of ghosting, fading, or color loss. Deep dark blacks and brilliant colors. The stand is heavy duty and of quality construction. Added bonus of RGB color changing lights on the logo at the back of the monitor. Would buy again! AAA+++

Good price, high quality!
Stunning 4K clarity with smooth 160Hz performance. Colors are accurate and gaming feels incredibly responsive with 1 ms and ELMB Sync. USB-C connectivity is a great bonus for laptop setups. G-SYNC compatibility keeps gameplay tear-free. Quality feels premium . Highly recommend for both gaming and creative work!

HDR is as good as the LG27UL, UN and UK series that is 400 certified
Finally I found a great monitor with no backlight bleeding. It has some ips glow but that is ok, as the black levels in this monitor is the best I have seen in an ips monitor so far. Second of all, people are complaining about HDR being washed out for 2 reasons 1- They are using HDR on non supported HDR games 2- Or they are playing a game that has terrible HDR implementation to begin with, and a good example for such a game is Red Dead redemption 2 which looks terrible and washed out when HDR is turned on(this is even for the best HDR TVs as it is a game issue and not a monitor or a TV issue), but you can still fix this issue by tinkering with your PS4's HDR calibration settings. Games that I have tried on this monitor and look great with HDR for PS4 pro are(Spider man, God of war, Ghost of Tsushima, Horizon zero of Dawn). Most importantly I do not understand why is this not vesa hdr certified while LG UK, UN and UL series are. For one, the LG monitors in the series I have listed and that have the "400" hdr certification, do not even exceed 350 nits(Their peak brightness is 350 nits, just as high as this Asus monitor) which is funny because both the Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q and the LG 27UK, UN and UL series are all 350 nits max, but for some reason the LG was able to acquire a Vesa 400 certification for its HDR, but the Asus TUF Gaming VG289Q, which has the same amount of nits(350), did not acquire this certification. All in all this is a great monitor that has the best black levels for an IPS monitor and it is of better quality than the more expensive LG27UK, Ul and UN series. Its black levels are very impressive and makes any game that much more atmospheric and immersive, regardless of the resolution. For example, Cyberpunk on PC, set at 1080p, actually looks great on this monitor due to the black levels (without HDR). -The Cons, What are they? 1-The Buttons and the Display options are kinda terrible and inaccessible/nonintuitive. 2-No volume buttons or wheel, so you actually have to go into the OSD(on screen display options) in order to get into the volume section to turn your volume up or down. 3- It does not come with an HDMI cable and only comes with a Display Port cable. 4- Terrible wire connection locations(vertically placed in the back rather than horizontally, which LG monitors win in this department) 5- And lastly there is no quick buttons for input changes. You still have to go into the menu in order to change your input from HDMI 1 to HDMI 2 to Display Port and vice versa. So good thing non of the cons have to do anything with the actual image quality because this monitor performs very well in that department. I feel they skimped on these technical issues in order to give you an Amazing display for this price, so the shortcuts that were made to offer such an amazing picture for this price, are mostly the cons I have listed, and It did not come at the expense of image quality which is great. Of course many people would add 60hertz as a "con" but for gamers who are not planning to play games higher than 60fps, then there is no reason to consider this a con. It is only a con for people who care more about performance in multiplayer games, than about image quality. And no, the new consoles will not take advantage of monitors with higher refresh rates in triple A tittles and only a few games will even run at 4k 120 hertz on the xbox series x or the PS5. It is a gimmick that you should not base your monitor shopping decision on. I mean the PS5 box states "8k"...does that mean that games will run at 8k on PS5 and that you should go out and now buy an 8k TV to "future proof" yourself? lol of course not. Gimmick advertising is a thing children.

A good display with both clarity and smoothness
After moving, I used this ROG Strix 4K monitor as my primary monitor. It offers a very good color gamut and a high refresh rate, while remaining competitively priced, which is excellent for the ROG Strix series. Installation is pretty simple and stratforward, and experienced DIY users don't even need a manual. Although I eventually switched to an arm mount, the original mount is sturdy and has a useful slot for my phone.

The most beautiful anything has ever looked, but an annoying flicker.
For context, in my picture, the 4k monitor is the one on the bottom right. OS is scaled up to 200%, and you can still see how big the variance is compared to the 1080p settings of the other monitors. This monitor is pretty spectacular. With the setup I have, I'm running some absolutely gorgeous scenes with godrays, RTX, and steady frames. Everything is crisp and fluid. The monitor has picture quality like nothing I've had before. I know IPS isn't the end-all-be-all, and PC HDR isn't that good apparently, but this is worlds above my previous displays. It picks up on G-Sync. Windows loves it. All around a pretty great experience! But, there is a small problem. This persistent flicker. It's purely video signal. The monitor never loses power. All of the systems are cabled up properly, and I've swapped my current cables and ports a few times, to no success. Sometimes it'll go hours and hour without a single flicker. Other times it'll start strobing at me to the point I have to turn it off - which usually calms it down for awhile. I have done all of the driver updates, removals, and reinstalls half a dozen times. I've removea nd readded my display adapters to try and get things running. Even run a recovery on the operating system, which I was reluctant to do. Did you see that typo I left up in the previous paragraph? The monitor flickered on me just now, and I kept typing through it. So, again, not a huge problem. One I'm adapting to, but kind of something you don't want. I imagine I *will* solve it, in time. I'm going to invest in some highly spec-ed cables for the entire setup. I'm going to test my success with different ports, and really run it through the gamut of testing. To narrow down exactly what's causing it, and fix it for good - or maybe RMA it if absolutely necessary. Probably not though. This thing is huge, cumbersome, and likely pretty fragile. So if I can avoid that, I want to. Now, I do this for a living. So I'm fine with this level of effort. A normal user? Probably not. And a gamer who might be competing in ranked and throw an entire round over a screen blacking out for headshots? Yeah, this would probably be an instantaneous refund. (That did actually happen to me once. Was sad, but not completely rage inducing.) So, consider your use case. Look at other reviews. If I'm the odd one out, that means this monitor is super reliable, and you should see if it fits your needs. If you see reviews like mine, and you need ultra-reliability, I'd consider maybe finding something a little less hi-fidelity that really rocks the house. 4K is a luxury. We still have issues maxing games on 4K Raytracing with the best components money can buy. Don't feel the need to rush.

Fantastic 4K Gaming Performance with Excellent Features
I am absolutely thrilled with the ASUS ROG Strix 27” 4K monitor. The picture quality is outstanding; 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160) on a 27-inch screen is incredibly sharp. The 160Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time combined with the Fast IPS panel deliver an incredibly smooth gaming experience, with virtually no ghosting. G-Sync compatibility works flawlessly and eliminates screen tearing. The addition of a USB-C port makes connectivity a breeze, especially for my laptop setup. The monitor looks sleek, and the tripod socket is a nice touch for streaming or mounting accessories. This is a top-tier gaming monitor that I highly recommend for anyone looking to upgrade to 4K high refresh rate.

Awesome gaming monitor, DISSAPOINTING QUALITY! ASUS NEEDS TO STEP UP THEIR GAME!
As a sweaty FPS gamer and a streamer (Twitch/Youtuber) who owns a full ASUS PC and accessories, this monitor is simply awesome. But, it has some cons I would like to chat about. I'll be listing the pros and cons of the ASUS ROG XG27UQR. Get ready to read a book! First, I'll like to list 2 disclaimers (warnings). Warning 1: If you're a console gamer who recently has a new PS5/Xbox series X and looking to buy this, PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS! This monitor ONLY has HDMI 2.0. That means that this monitor is unable to play at 4K, 120hz for both PS5 and Xbox series X (Series S included). So I suggest looking elsewhere for a 4K gaming monitor that has HDMI 2.1 which is capable of 4k,120hz gaming for both consoles. Warning 2: I've just found out that I've actually overpaid this monitor unfortunately. I've paid $873 in total ($800 pricetag) for this monitor. Yet the original price of the XG27UQR is $700.. so yea... please be careful on what kind of seller your buying this from. I don't know why this monitor was $800 over a week ago and now it's $700? WTF? Anyways.. here's the pros and cons of the monitor! Pros: -Packaging is REALLY nice! Easier to remove the box and monitor! -The monitor arm is sleek looking -The back monitor looks awesome.. very "gamery" -4k gaming looks awesome -Really NICE colors! Well vibrant! -Monitor feels very fast and responsive -imo, 27 inches is the sweetspot for 4K gaming. Feels very comfortable especially with my eyes. Above that i consider a bit too big. And now.... here's the cons and the MASSIVE CONS... yea.. it gets a little worse........... -The monitor stand is simply too big. Why can't gaming companies make smaller stands? I had to replace the new stand with a cheap Amazon monitor stand and now I have more space on my desk.. hahaha. -VESA mounting.. for those who want to hang this in your wall or install in a smaller monitor stand, removing the plastics that hides the screws is REALLY HARD. The first plastic is pretty easy to remove. But the 2nd plastic piece.. it's really hard to remove it. I almost broke it too! ASUS! Make this easier for us next time! -Safe to say that USB ports are dead on arrival. For some reason none of my USB accessories work on the back USB ports of this monitor. Tested my USB accessories on my other monitors, and they all work fine! This is just disappointing and I don't know if I'm doing anything wrong. I've also updated this monitor drivers and NOPE.. still a no go. -Bezels... LMAO... ASUS... it's almost 2022. I knew what the monitor has looked like, but these bezels are something else. I was like.. "wow.. these are THICC!". And now the MASSIVE CONS! -HDR Ok... HDR on this monitor is TRASH! TRASH TRASH TRASH! LMAO! I don't know if my monitor is a defect, but omg.. the HDR is TERRIBLE. If you're planning to buy this monitor for HDR content, PLEASE BUY ANOTHER MONITOR! Hecc you're better off getting a 4K OLED TV! You're even better off with HDR turned off! The HDR make my screen much darker... I don't know why. And NOPE... you can't brighten up you monitor brightness in the monitor settings. Everything is literally disabled once HDR is on... like come on ASUS... -SOFTWARE After updating the monitor to its latest firmware, I was already seeing dark dimming's while gaming.. it's like the monitor would turn off for some strange reason.... -BLACK LIGHT BLEED/IPS GLOW! Due to my ignorance, I forgot that IPS panels do in fact has some backlight bleed.. or IPS glow. I have to admit... after a few days of gaming, I still can't get over it. This monitor IPS glow is actually pretty visible while dark scenes on gaming and even on loading screens. It's actually annoying me and I don't know if i'll ever get over it since this is my main hardcore sweaty monitor for FPS and streaming games. You want IPS glow to disappear? Sure! Simply TURN ON HDR LMAO! YES! Turning on the crappy HDR removes the IPS glow but of course, everything else is darker now. All of my last gaming monitors I still currently use (TN, LED, and even a OLED) are far superior and shows very little to no glow/bleed. I'm shocked that this is able to pass the quality inspection but again.... I don't know if this is just normal for IPS monitors. Also read that it's a gamble to get a good IPS monitor overall. CONCLUSION! Overall, this monitor is awesome based on it's 4k 144hz performance and pretty much that's it.... the crap HDR, USB ports dead on arrival, large bezels, the IPS glow, and spending overpriced on this monitor is actually really starting to kick me and I'm already considering returning this monitor and maybe, buy this monitor again for the cheaper price tag, or look into another brand. As a ASUS fanboy, again, This is my first time being disappointed with their products. Why spend $700-$800 on this monitor when other brands are offering 4K 144hz monitors WITH HDMI 2.1 for next gen consoles and possible better quality????? Should you buy this? As a ASUS fanboy, for the first time ever, I would say NO! Again, there are far other better monitors that offers better quality, cheaper pricetag, and of course, having HDMI 2.1. After my first few days with this monitor, it's really hard to recommend this to anybody. Again, I may give this monitor another chance simply because it's cheaper now.. but I don't know.. very likely i'll be looking for another brand! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- EDIT: Just returned the monitor after finding out that the monitor also dims while playing games.... I would highly avoid the XG27UQR unless you're willing to accept that it's a lottery to get a decent quality monitor with no issues.. PS... the UPS worker told me at the return station that this is the 3RD TIME she's been seeing the EXACT same monitor being return in the SAME WEEK! ASUS ROG! PLEASE IMPROVE YOUR QUALITY CONTROL! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!
