Gertie's Charmed Sewing Studio: Pattern Making and Couture-Style Techniques for Perfect Vintage Looks

I'm a long time follower of the author/designer, and think this is an exceptional book! It's elegant and informative. Beautifully photographed and written. Gertie offers insights into historical fashion and fabrics, couture dressmaking techniques, and so much more in a professional and approachable manner. It's not a "how to sew" book, but rather a glimpse into her process and inspirations. The three patterns she includes are the epitome of class! She's carrying the torch of fabulous vintage styles into the future, with her own brand of chic, and this book is a stunning addition for any one who enjoys fashion and the art/craft of sewing.

Excellent book great 3 new patterns and a bunch of in depth backstory of the current Charm patterns out in print. I saw a few previous reviews stating there was a political agenda in this book. I’m wondering if they read the same book as I cannot see anything that could be considered political or woke propaganda. This is coming from a conservative Canadian ChristianLoving that they made the patterns digital that way. Don’t have to worry about ruining the official copy of the patterns. The only bad thing about the book is the poor editing with some minor issues involving a section with dummy text that the editor should have removed.

If you love wintage sewing, mainly about the ‘50s you need this book. It will guide you through some very interesting design and patterns revived by the savvy and inspired experience of Gertie. Also, you will have access to three downloadable patterns, completed by sew along video and hacks. Two dresses and a a taylored jacket available from size 2 to 34 and with cup variations from A to H. But beware…once you enter Gertie’s world you will NEED to buy all the other books, patterns and Patreon subscription to access her magical fashion world!

Das Buch ist wie erwartet gut, aber leider sind nur drei Schnittmuster dabei. Die anderen fünf ausführlich beschriebenen Schnittmuster müssen extra gekauft werden!!! Das habe ich so auch noch nie erlebt :(Lieferung durch Amazon am die falsche (alte) Adresse, mit der vor einem Jahr vorbestellt wurde. Obwohl ich in den Lieferanweisungen hinterlegt hatte dass das umgeleitet werden soll an Adresse X und nochmal in dem Lieferanweisungen dass statt Briefkasten bitte an Adresse X... Wurde das Paket neben der Haustür abgestellt, an der kein Namensschild mehr ist und am Briefkasten ein Zettel, das hier niemand mehr wohnt. Also 60 km gefahren um mein Paket zu holen :(((

I just received my copy of Gertie's Charmed Sewing Studio book and I am enjoying every single page. The book is completely well written chronicling how Gertie started most of her Charm Patterns and her books. The photo's are beautiful and the writing perfect. The last part of the book includes NEW patterns and shows you how to get these patterns online (at no charge, once purchasing the book) to download at home onto your computer. She has also included video tutorials on how to make all three patterns on YouTube. Great job Gertie and thank you so much for always putting out a quality product!!
