Victron Energy Orion XS Smart DC to DC Battery Charger 12/12 50A (700W) - IP65 Dust & Waterproof - Fully Configurable - Remote Management Possible - Advanced Battery Protection

I was surprised at how small this unit was compared to my Solar MPPT 100/50 unit (see photo). There are no heatsink fans on the back so I was worried that it would get hot, but it doesn’t. As usual, the VictronConnect app is where it’s at and it’s great to be able to see Solar and Alternator charging from the same place. Really excellent system. Previous to this I was just charging the leisure batteries (4 x 100Ah) from the alternator when solar wasn’t cutting it over winter, but it took forever to charge to 100% and never reached Absorption voltage. This however is a night and day difference in terms of charging in the way it controls the voltage and current when charging. True bulk, absorption, float and storage states means it charges the batteries quickly. Easily three times quicker than using the alternator alone - depending on state of charge. The entire Victron system is highly recommended. A+

Absolutely love this one! Although a bit pricey, this is a great piece of kit. The fact that it’s so slim compared to the other DC-DC chargers speaks volumes about its great efficiency. As this unit has Bluetooth, you have full control over all parameters needed via the App.

Great bit of kit, very controllable for different requirements

Fitted to a narrow boat this now takes power from the alternator/starter battery only when the engine is running and the voltages are high enough (values can be set). It then helps charge a large lifepo4 battery at set amperage values ensuring the alternator doesn't over heat from constant charging and protection from a sudden end charging spike (lifepo4 will take a constant voltage/amperage until full then stop charging whereas lead acid voltages taper off as they become charged). It "talks" to the victron mppt and inverter via a Bluetooth network (inbuilt) and keeps the charging values inline with the battery requirements and solar feed. Gets luke warm instead of hot like the older units. Brilliant bit of kit as the engine bay is now an isolated unit from the leisure system.

perfect for the job . My 280 lithium battery has never gone below 80 percent i have a 3000kw inverter running a compressor fridge freezer permanantly.

I had a Sterling Power 60a charger which went faulty. Their customer service was useless so I decided to try out this Victron unit. It's a fraction of the cost, a fraction of the size, it runs silently & charges better than my old one. I have many Victron products & I can't fault any of them. Buy this with confidence. You will be happy

Excellent item. Expensive but you get what you pay for. More expensive than then Orion Tr but being slimmer fits under a campervan seat easily.

Funzt die 50Ah im Eingang passen. Gerät wird auch nicht so warm wie der Orion von früher. Bei neuen Ducato mit Euro6d Temp aufpassen, da (eigene Gefahr) sollte man die Sicherung 33 ziehen, dass schaltet die Unintelligente Intelligenz der Lima ab. Sollte man als Automatik machen damit die Spannung nicht unter 12v abfällt. Mit gezogener Sicherung hat man permanent 13v. Dann klappts auch mit den 50Ah.

Early days yet I know, but installed it two days ago to replace a different brand that was nothing but trouble. This unit is easy to setup and just WORKS. Installed on a 2021 MB Sprinter motor home and it's well worth the extra dollars for a well designed and foolproof item. 5 stars.
