Great Price for saving your arms
I had been meaning to order some of these for a while, but just hadn't gotten it done. The other day, I had my oven on to cook something and I burned myself on the rack. That evening I got on to Amazon and found these oven rack shields. They arrived as indicated by the seller and I put them on immediately. They went on very easily and have saved my arms. Great product.

Simple and perfect was to avoid burns
Once I figured out the trick (be sure to pull the grips over as you go along) these are easy to install, and VERY effective to keep my arms safe in the oven. Attractive appearance, too. Highly recommend.

Sets smoke detector off
Thought these would be awesome since I consistently burn my thumb on the rack. I cut these down to size and installation was simple. Unfortunately, they emit a smell that sets the smoke detector off. No amount of pre-cleaning them works; I can't cook a meal and listen to the loud screeching alarm the entire time. All in all, I wasted my money :(

Update: It works & it doesn't.....lol
Update: 7/28/18After using these for a week, I have upped stars by 2. Here's why....As they aren't what thought, meaning they are gonna stay cool to touch!, cuz they don't; they do kinda work. Meaning that even though they hot, like whatever oven temp set to; when I bump the guards instead of the wire rack I don't get nasty burn Mark & scar. I sure do know I've touched the guards, as 400°F is HOT, but I'm not getting burned! So, as they aren't cool to touch, they are doing there job. So, why not 5/5? Here's why:The smell! Hot silicone doesn't smell great, smells like burning plastic in my book. Fits it make food taste different, NO. Other issue, cant use broiler with these or put oven up to 450°F; as rating is around 425°f I believe. Do, that's my update, & why not 5/5.....My NEW Score=3.5/5Cheers!Received these, 07/16/18, and immediately installed. Not to difficult, was like sleeving wires or cables.Am using them now, 1223h on 7/17/18, & not happy. Oven temp, 350°F, according to thermometer reading, & protective guards temp, 344°F, according to thermometer! NOT good, as will still cause burns to arms/hands. Supposed to be safe and cool up to 446°F, according to description.Well must likely return if continue to fail, especially b/c they cost $8.99 plus shipping.Was so HOPING and WANTING these to work, as I used to be a chef, (or still am, lol, since don't lose skills) in tech business , so coming all the time in past has left many of burn scars on hands/arms.
