The second book of this series is great
I wasn't smitten with the first book but I loved this one. The author writes the physically and mentally damaged soldier so very well - he is, in a sense, his own worst enemy because he won't allow anyone near enough to him to help him, not even his own family, who love him. Besides his physical infirmities, he is battling fears and night-time demons, convinced that he is unsafe around people in the dark.Cassie, the heroine, was such a sweetie - she, too has insecurities and hides the dark life she lives with her father. The premise of the two together, she writing and he painting, was just so heart-warming. The rough, tough soldier producing delicate, insightful watercolours, and the outwardly ditsy young woman who pours her heart into her writing. They are just a perfect couple, and reading how they get to their happily ever after was wonderful. I am already impatient for the next book. One small quibble about grammar - the author writes so well, but uses 'he was stood' instead of 'he was standing'or 'he stood' and 'she was sat' instead of 'she was sitting'. Not major points, but they don't sit well with the otherwise very good narrative.

Great family saga, book 2.
A have really enjoyed this series of books, in this one we meet the 2nd Warriner brother, Jamie. He is a soldier and damaged both physically and mentally. Into his quiet seclusion literally falls, Cassie the vicars daughter. Quiet, shy but with a kindness of heart and spirit, Cassie starts to heal Jamie and together they find love. This is a sweet and gentle love story with plenty of humour and sub plots to keep the reader enthralled. Being a series, we catch up with Jack from the first book and his wife Lefty and start to explore the other brothers. The whole series is delicious and I highly recommend this addictive family saga.

A Warriner to Resuce Her wrapped me up in the story completely and I didn't want it to end!
Where can I start other than to say that I absolutely loved Jamie's character he is brooding, strong but also has a vulnerability that made my heart go out to him and maybe go a little weak at the knees. There is so much more to Jamie than what first appears and I loved getting to know him. Virginia Heath creates the most wonderful characters and Jamie is developed perfectly throughout this story. Then when you partner him with Cassie well I really enjoyed their interactions and the way that they start a friendship. Then moving onto such a simmering and gorgeous chemistry between the pair. Cassie is a delight and even though she faces some tough times she has such a determined and sweet personality which made me like her straight away. Then of course you have the rest of the Warriner family and I loved catching up with them.I pretty much ended up reading this book in one go as I just didn't want to put it down. There is a little bit of everything from romance, love, family and even a bit of danger. There are also some darker and deeper issues within this book that provide extra depth and substance making the story even more rounded.Virginia Heath writes the most wonderful stories with humour, warmth and love. A Warriner to Resuce Her wrapped me up in the story completely and I didn't want it to end!An easy five stars from me!
