Fascinating read
Never thought the story of Hannibal would be this interesting! Actually, I am not sure why I bought it, but I was glad I did. The author makes the history of is period alive! Great read if you like history!

Very Good
I enjoyed this reading, good narrative, many historical related elements. I did not like that there are a lot of 'historic spoilers' and maps could have been more elaborated. Anyway I think a great book as first approach to Hannibal and his war

What an adventure
I was totally blown away at the depth, knowledge, and realism of Andrew Yang. As someone who is rather skeptical at the current lineup of presidential candidates for the Democratic Party, I was impressed with Andrew Yang, who brings a very unique and realistic perspective about how grim the future of our nation is if we do not acknowledge the elephant in room, which is automation. Yang addresses the grim reality of our shrinking working and middle class and how automation will put millions of people both in the blue- and white-collar sector out of work in the very near future. I also listened to Yang on Eric Weinstein’s podcast to further verify his ideas and communication style. He seems quite authentic. Yang proposes the idea of a Universal Basic Income (UBI) for every citizen between the ages of 18-64 to help offset the higher cost of living and consistent loss of employment through automation. Even as someone who leans more to the fiscal conservative camp, I can acknowledge that this is the reality of our future and am not opposed to the idea of a UBI.Yang has the ability unlike other Democratic candidates to utilize his business and entrepreneurial experience to bring people from various different camps together. Instead of political bickering, he actually has the humility to not necessarily agree but intellectually understand why Donald Trump was elected, which I strongly believe gives him an advantage in reaching out and bridging the divide with Trump supporters. I do admit that while reading the book, I am rather skeptical about his proposed social credit system, which I think is pushing it a bit too far. However, that aside, I really hope his ideas and proposed solutions catch on. The book is very well researched and has legitimate qualitative and quantitative data to make his case. Outside the social credit system, I see very little fluff in his proposed solutions. It’s not going to solve all of our problems, but I believe it will get us closer to where we as a country can be. I definitely encourage liberals, moderates, conservatives, independents, libertarians, etc. to read this book. You

Makes Hannibal come alive
Highly recommended, and easy to read. Author does a great job of not being too technical , but writing in such a way as you both love and despise Hannibal, excellent scholarship. If you love Greco-Roman history this is a must read.

Book for general audience on Hannibal
John Prevas has written an engaging book on the great general, Hannibal, for the general audience. His path to Italy is chronicled clearly as well as his major battles. Except for some sloppy editing, exemplified by the beginning of chapter four-redundancy-this would be a five star book. But such over writing probably would not be recognized by the audience this book is aimed.

Five Stars
Beautifully written and researched. Gives Hannibal his rightful place as a major figure in the ancient world.

Next time, don't bring elephants!
First and foremost, I respect the author traveling in Hannibal's footsteps (several times) in order to better tell his story. More authors should do this!Secondly, this is really a cursory glance at Hannibal as a whole. You'll come out the other side not really respecting Hannibal as the great military mind that he is. I think this is on the author and not Hannibal. Hannibal's exploits are well known and deserve all the credit they receive. However, the author doesn't really convey Hannibal's character and generalship all that well. This is certainly a book for folks just getting into Hannibal or newer folks to ancient history or just history in general.

A readable history of Hannibal’s life
The main strengths of this book were its readability and brevity—there isn’t the lengthy needless speculation to fill in missing historical details that can make some biographies of ancient historical figures a chore to read. I do wish there had been more maps, particularly of key battles and campaigns. (There are a few maps at the beginning but these are for large land masses only). I appreciate that the author had visited the sites himself but site descriptions are no substitute for maps.I would also note that despite its brevity it is a bit repetitive in places, but this is, at worst, a minor matter and the book is well worth reading.
