As a dedicated pool owner, I recognize that proper water chemistry management is a complex, continuous process that demands reliable, high-quality inputs. The CLOROX Pool&Spa All-in-One XtraBlue Chlorinating Granules do not simply sanitize; they provide a multifaceted solution that drastically streamlines weekly maintenance and delivers demonstrably superior water quality. The All-in-One designation is genuinely earned. This product incorporates a highly effective stabilized granular chlorine (Dichlor), which ensures the free chlorine residual is maintained despite UV degradation, alongside powerful algaecidal and sequestering agents. This prevents the growth of resistant green algae and helps bind up trace metals that can cause staining or clouding, significantly reducing the need for costly ancillary shock treatments. The granular formulation is a huge advantage over traditional tablets. It offers a rapid and complete dissolution rate, allowing for immediate application and adjustment of chlorine levels without the prolonged wait time or risk of corrosive damage associated with placing tabs directly in the skimmer. The "XtraBlue" visual indicator, while subtle, confirms dispersion and gives a satisfying, immediate feedback loop that the chemical load has been delivered and is active. For those who prioritize preventative care over reactive treatment, the 6-pound quantity is an economical staple. This product has simplified my pool routine while significantly improving clarity and microbial control. For high-performance pool sanitation and maintenance, this is now my standard operating input.

These granules make pool maintenance much easier. They dissolve quickly, sanitize effectively, and help control algae. I’ve noticed my water stays clearer for longer between treatments. The added algae protection is a nice bonus, and the bucket seals well to keep the product fresh. Just be sure to follow the dosing instructions carefully for the best results.

This chlorine is amazing! Keeps the water clear and an amazing aquamarine blue color. That is if you can get it open to actually use it. The container it comes in might as well be Fort Knox. I understand it has to be childproof but that also makes it senior citizen proof. I have to use a long handle screwdriver to pry the lid off the container, and it takes me at least a half hour to do it. VERY FRUSTRATING!!! I would have given this product a 5 star rating but I had to take a star off because of the impossible packaging. UPDATE: Opening the container is actually quite simple once you understand how. It's as simple as pushing in a tab while pulling up the lid. This chlorine still amazes me with it's ability to make my jacuzzis water so sparkling and it even kills biofilm which I could never control without draining, scrubbing, rinsing and refilling. Not so expensive ($1 worth of city water) as it is time consuming.) I love this stuff!

We had a pool installed this past Summer, and I had been using liquid chlorine. The liquid chlorine did a great job disinfecting, but did not last very long--I was constantly adding it. Thus, I wanted to try the granules. In terms of disinfecting they also work great. Unfortunately, however, I started using the granules too late in the season to find out if they last longer, than the liquid since all chlorine lasts longer in cooler weather. The granules definitely take more time as they should be pre-dissolved before putting in the pool. To do that, I pour them into an old milk container and add warm water to the container. If that is too much trouble for you, then the granules are probably not a good idea. If the granules end up lasting only about as long as the liquid in the hotter months, then I will switch back to the liquid since the added work will not be worth it. The granules are also more expensive, so if they don't last longer, then that would be another reason that they are not worth it.
