Physical Biology of the Cell

This book is the treaties that Every biologist needs to ...
This book is a treatise that every biologist should read and study, then return to frequently. It is appropriate for those at the lab bench, computer terminal, teachers, and writers on biology. It contains lucid descriptions of the physical and biochemical aspects on the inner parts of cellular machinery, including how they work and interact in producing, regulating, and multipling cell numbers.

Speedy Service, Terrific Textbook
The book arrived in practically new condition ahead of schedule. I am very pleased with my experience and the quality of the product! There were no scuff-marks, bent pages, or any other signs of wear. I can't wait to read it!

From the physicists' point of view, this book gives you the big picture about cell biology (the phenomena spanning over a wide range of time and length scales).

I liked the book!
I used this book for an undergraduate/beginners graduate course on biophysics, and read through all of it in 4 months. It is a fairly self-contained book, with few serious gaps. Admittedly, it is not light reading, but the festive and playful attitude of the authors is very welcome. I firmly believe that both the students and I learned a lot, both of biology and of physics. For the authors: as a teacher, I would appreciate it a lot if you could have all the equations in a collection of ppt files, the same way as you have all the figures in the book.

Recommended!
Someone recommended this book to me and it's definitely worthy. If you are looking for a book in biophysics or in a related area this is a good beginning.

Inspiring.
Good explanations. Some topics are discussed in so much detail that u may get lost, but its for good! I have had moments where I felt amazed by how human beings have broken down this nature to understand it better. Good book.

Very understandable!
I ordered this book for my nanobiology class and it was easy to read and follow.

Outstanding.
If you thought physics was useless for biology, this book proves otherwise. It is very helpful to me, as physics was a tough point as a biology student. Now I know why I need physics.

👌👍
Good book. Was in good condition when I received it. They should consider printing a hardcover edition for this. But yeah.. Cool book. Great reading experience. Go for it.

neat view on biology
This book has breadth and depth! Lots of references to very interesting sources. "The Math Behind the Models" sections explain equations nicely for readers not using partial derivatives every day, and the cell biological and evolutionary concepts are explained equally nicely for less biologically oriented people. A lot of care is put into explaining modeling as such, and how to estimate quantities in a meaningful way. The illustrations of "idealizations" are very clear, the many different ways membranes or DNA or proteins are displayed to highlight different features: electrical properties, conformation, sequence, .... it's great to read even those parts that are second nature. very clear.

Biofìsica celular
Extenso, completo y detallado de aspectos cuantitativos de la biología molecular de la célula. Recomendado para ampliar y profundizar o complementar textos de biología celular. Bien ilustrado y explicado.

Printing not good!
Arrived on time! But printing is of poor quality. Seems high speed, rather than high resolution printing. Letters appear fuzzy.
