This is my first experience using fiber optic material. I bought it for an invention I'm working on, and it has basically served that purpose. Yes, it can be cut, but it is brittle, and even with care the cut ends are fractured. It's easy enough to polish up with some sandpaper, however. I also tried the trick of expanding the ends with heat - I used the "exhaust" heat from a small butane soldering iron, not direct flame. But I found it very difficult to control. I also found it difficult to straighten the fiber - it comes in a coil, and wants to maintain that curvature. Finally, my main issue is the price - since buying this, I realize there are other suppliers who offer it at a much cheaper price.

Used this to transmit a low power laser beam for a few feet. Worked fine for that.Apparently was cut by wire cutters or some such thing by the manufacturer. The ends were rough and not in condition to receive and transmit light well. Easy enough to trim up the ends with a sharp knife.Would recommend

This was my first time to use fiber optics and it was a total success. The product is great and so is the information provided about how to use it. I tied five strands together with wire ties and butted them against a 5mm led and connected the two with heat shrink tubing. All 5 strands light up very well. Highly recommended.

This is exactly the material I was looking for to add lights to a model. I especially like that it came with an application note that gave a detailed description of how to install it in various types of models. For example, it listed the types of adhesive to use or not to use. It also gave suggestion to prevent your light source from generating excessive heat.

The gauge thickness of the fiber optic is perfect for moding your DJI Phantom or any quad rotor helicopters. It is mainly used for FPV flying, an indicator for what is the status of your MC (main Controller) it is good to know if your loosing GPS signal from your quad rotor helicopter especially in flight.

I needed fiber optic cabling to route lasers into a special condenser for a microscope I am building. This stuff is a toy. It is as the brand name alludes PLASTIC. It will melt easily and when heated and it will deform very quickly and irreversibly. I understand that not every hobbyist is dealing multiwatt lasers, but shouldn't a product that transmits light be able to maintain dimensional and optical properties in close proximity to said light?

Exactly as described, packed well. I cut it into shorter pieces for my project and it works just fine. No gaps in the outer layer, no side glow.
