Chappell Universal Stainless Steel Center Square 912-S16

Absolutely gorgeous piece of American made stainless steel. This is the best framing square I have come across in my 20 years as carpenter. Aluminum squares are unreliable and have to be checked often, and don't hold up to abuse. Steel squares will rust and become unreadable over time. Stainless steel is the best of both, and Chappelle does is elegantly.

These squares are well made with clear markings, and are incredibly accurate—plus it’s made in the USA! I’ve used my square for cabinetmaking, furniture making, and even industrial machinery setting and alignment. While that last use isn’t what it was originally designed for, I can safely say the squareness of mine was on par with a high dollar machinist’s square.A word of caution, watch out who you loan it to! A friend borrowed my original square and found it so useful, he couldn’t bring himself to give it back! The silver lining of this situation is that I’m getting a brand new Chappell Square, and my friend gets to pay for it.
