The Norton Anthology of Modern and Contemporary Poetry, Volume 1: Modern Poetry

The book was in great condition, came in a few days and I didn’t have to carry it home from the store.

I bought it last month for my class, but never got to use it. The package was great and the book is new; no sign of any used. For those who love poetry, this book might be one for you. I decided to keep it as a collection since I love books so much.

My Professor, Dana Gioia, hates this book. He's constantly correcting misinformation in the biographical notes and criticizing the opinions of the authors.With that said, I'm glad I own it (hence 3 stars instead of 1). There's a great selection of poetry and, for what it's worth, the biographical sketches are informative. Also, the essays, prefaces, letters, etc. from the poets in the back can be quite interesting.If you're just looking for a good selection of poets and poems, this is great. If you're looking for something better than that, I suggest you look elsewhere.... then again, you can find all of these poems on line anyway.

This is an amazing collection with a truly impeccable intro and accompanying notes. I used it for a college Poetry course and found the annotations very helpful. Although some usually canonized and anthologized poems are missing, Ramazani has done an amazing job with this!

This was required reading for a modern poetry class but a book I don't mind reading and even peruse post-class. Well-organized and comprehensive, the book hits all the highlights.

This product came in the shape it said it was in. There were a few side notes and it was a little beat up, but it said that it would be that way. It also came in a timely manor.

I was pleased with the way the book came to me, but I was unhappy that it did not arrive within the timeframe that I should have received it. I would rather buy my books online instead of in the bookstore where they charge twice or three times the amount of what the book really is.

Decent anthology.
