Good little guide.
Great as far as it goes. I had expected a somewhat larger volume.

The easy way to master French!!!!
Yet another innovative and thoughtful work from this author. I am learning French and frustratingly make mistakes with noun genders. This handy, fold out, visually pleasing guide, provided me with a simple, quick alternative to rote learning my noun genders and exceptions. Rice-Jones has a unique method and ability to make the French language immediately accessible and easy to learn. I found the memory tricks provided in this well laid-out guide easy to understand and use. You will wonder why you ever had problems with the French language before!p.s I wholeheartedly recommend one of her other books "Unforgettable French", my copy is well thumbed! An easy and quick way to master French tenses with out the hard slog. Suitable for all ages.

Very useful way to learn gender exceptions
I have also posted a review of 'Unforgettable French', one of Maria's other publications so am already very positive towards her methods for learning (and more importantly remembering) the little intricacies of the language. This is a neat fold-out card which covers a whole host of different exceptions to the rule we were all taught at school which is that feminine nouns generally end in 'e'. There would be no easy or sensible place to put this information in a regular textbook or dictionary so the card makes a very useful standalone aid. Maria has grouped various nouns into little sections like 'Power', 'Strength', 'Education' to help you remember masculine nouns that all end in 'e' - and then found the various feminine nouns that don't end in 'e' and grouped them into 'Beauty', 'House and Family' etc. It may sound sexist - but I guess the language already is in the first place. (Full disclosure - I am an adult re-learning French and Maria is my excellent French teacher)

This is an excellent, easy to use and fun guide
This is an excellent, easy to use and fun guide. It is accessible to all ages and makes learning and remembering French fun. This, along with the authors other book "Unforgetable French" makes French accessible to all. The innovative use of memory tricks is itself a skill as it makes you look at all aspects of French, and other languages, in a refreshing, fun way - it takes away the need to just learn languages in a robotic way. I would fully recommend this easy to use guide and the author's other publications.
