Planned Obsolescence and now a complete DISASTER
Love these heaters as they are attractive and work well. Unfortunately one must be put off by the statement in the included directions that indicate that this heater should be REPLACED after only a year's use. Seems that they should be able to design and market a heater that isn't expected to fail within a year's continual use.....Addendum: Came home this evening to find that the heater above had malfunctioned. Instead of the 78 degree temperature I had set and which had remained unchanged for months the temperature in the tank was 99.8 F! Needless to say almost all my aquarium fish are now dead and the rest were only able to survive after I quickly placed large quantity of ice cubes into my tank. A total and unmitigated disaster! Never had a heater malfunction to this degree in the past on me. You have been warned...Avoid this product!

GARBAGE - lasted 5 months.
Lasted 5 months, and even when it was working, it could NOT reach the set temperature on a 55 gallon tank so it's definitely not 500 watts. Junk, garbage, do not buy if you value your fish. Amazon was extremely difficult to work with on this, which is strange, normally they are quite helpful, but they made things much harder than normal.

Not bad but not accurate
This heater is working well so far. I like the digital readout and the placement of the controls. The thing I don't like is the accuracy. It will read 76 degrees Fahrenheit but my thermometer reads anywhere from 77.8 up to 80. With the size of my tank I don't have to worry about a single heater being inaccurate, but if I did I would pair this up with a heat controller.Update:This is a giant POS! stopped working and can't find any info as to what the problem is.

Excellent Heater
I bought this heater on the review from Marcie. It works great on my 45 gallon pond/water feature. Took a little while to start noticing a difference but when it finally started to show heat, my koi started running around. They were cold in 50 degree water. I had to turn it down because it got too warm. The koi are happy fishes. Works great!!! Not sure about the having to buy another one after a year, but hey, the fish are warm.

Consistent works well in my small outdoor pond
Keeps my outdoor pond consistent for my finkids. The only problem is they dont last long. I replalce it about once a year or so. The last one had a bit of a short? I would touch the pond water and get a light shock.

do not last
I have used both the 200 and 500 watts versions. Both failed within months. The LED lighted up but showed inaccurate current temperature and the heating element did not work at all. It is a pity that the titanium rod looks and feels so good but failed so prematurely.

These heaters really work!
I purchase two of these for a 350 gallon pond. I have the temp set at 72 degrees and they have been able to keep the water temperature at 68 degrees at the lowest, when it's been 35 degrees outside. Very pleased with these heaters!

Worked well for 7 months.
UPDATE:Worked well for about 7 months. It still reads the temperature, just doesn't heat.Original Review:So far, so good. I’ve had this in my sump for about two months with no problems. I have it set for 80 and the thermometer in my tank reads 79 consistently. Great product!
