I purchased one of these directly from the Enamelware Company, and it's magnificent! The colour is lovely and the quality top notch.Made in Austria by Riess, the company has been operating since 1550 and is renowned for making the Rolls Royce of enamelware. It's in a completely different league to the usual shoddy stuff you get from China or the Far East, and this is reflected in the higher asking price, but believe me, the investment is worth it. Instead of rusting out in a couple of years, anything made by Riess is made from thick, heavy gauge steel and with care will still be fine long after you and I are gone.Real enamel is not a painted finish but a layer of glass, baked on in a furnace. It won't wear off, and is impervious to water and acidic liquids. Cheap enamelware can be identified by its uneven surface, ripples, surface flaws and thin, low grade steel beneath. Riess enamelware is always perfect, and very well packaged too. It's pretty tough and hard wearing, but do avoid dropping onto a hard surface or you may chip the surface.I purchased this pot as a small worktop bin for compost scraps. Anything suitable such as teabags or vegetable peelings goes into it during the day and is emptied into either he wormery or compost bin at the end of the day. I can't think of a better or more attractive way to keep my kitchen tidy and my garden cared for! It could just as easily be used as a small bin in a bathroom, or for any number of other storage needs.Highly recommended.
