Honestly, just bloody buy it.The prologue chapter alone will change how you think about your role as a performer.This is not a book of tricks, utilities or technique. It's a book about how and why you present your magic. If you are serious about card magic, this needs to be on the shelf along with the Erdnase and the Marlo.Persona, script, psychology, narrative, storytelling... It's all here.What I love most about this book is that it's about finding YOUR identity as a magician; a book about starting to consider why you do something, to go with all the time you spent on how to do it.Clear, direct, thought provoking and challenging, Ortiz is a solid teacher.I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to take their performance to the next level. I would imagine it would be daunting to all but the most passionate of beginners, I would say it's recommend reading for the intermediate, and downright essential for anyone considering a professional act.
