That day when quality met performance and performance met price.
I'm rebuilding a Dell E6440 and the DVD drive was wearing out. So, I opted for an additional drive, instead. This SSD fits inside of a caddy sold on Amazon. The hardware installation was straightforward. But I'm not a professional so I waited until my Wife got home. She's a Computer Science Grad. For her it was easy to set up. And it works great. Very fast file transfer speed. And very reliable. It's a Kingston product, and Kingston products are very high quality. The price is a bargain. I highly recommend this Kingston SSD.

What a difference, wish I'd bought it sooner
A laptop I was losing my patience with went from being "some old something I'll use in a pinch" to "I can't stop carrying this around the house with me" with one upgrade. I'd find some chores to do if I needed to reboot...it took some 3-4 minutes. Now it reboots in less than 30 seconds. Have to install a program? Oh crud, I better get comfortable, this is going to be awhile. Now its nearly as fast as my gaming desktop. There is no comparison...this 8-year old laptop I bought off of Craigslist with a 17" screen was just for watching movies in the bedroom...its all it was good for. Now its a fully functional laptop with a brand new lease on life and that I plan on having for years to come, if it holds up. What a good price for such an impressive upgrade...very, very happy that I decided to try this out. I will absolutely report back if it goes bad anytime soon, but as of now my inner geek is celebrating getting what seems like a brand new PC. Can't recommend enough.

If you need internal SATA this drive is great.
Works perfectly. I replaced my old hard drive with this internal SATA SSD. My laptop doesn't support NVMe, but this fit in the hard drive's slot. I wasn't supposed to be able to run Windows 11, and the hard drive was awful. With this SSD it runs fine! I also put Linux in separate partitions, and totally happy with this arrangement.

Amazing upgrade
Put it inside an office pc I use for light gaming. It took startup from minutes to seconds and speeds up the os system. Easy to put in, and small.

Better for external than internal
It's not the fastest or most durable, but it's cheap. Better SSDs have a small chunk of DRAM to run file location functions while operating. DRAM is faster temporary memory which can handle loads of read/writes without wearing out. This SSD does that directly on the flash storage. It's a cheaper way to build a drive, but slower and can wear out the memory just like if you re-wrote files constantly. It actually works out OK, but not a great choice for an internal drive in a high-use machine (especially a mini server). It's worth buying something better for machines you really care about long term. However, it's perfectly fine for backups and transfers. And plenty reliable if you want to turn an older laptop into a travel device or terminal. Check specs and tests if you do look for something better, rather than comparing star ratings directly. Most people probably buy this for the low-intensity purposes I suggested, so it gets rated appropriately high. Good SSDs made for harder professional use will have similar overall ratings after being subjected to much harsher use than a backup drive which spends most of its life powered off.

Good budget drive for updating laptops.
I've had this drive for years now and it's still works like it did when I got it. It has some wear and tear based on the Kingston software tool that you can download for it, but for the low cost you can't go wrong. Last time I checked the number it was still in the mid 90% "good" range since the laptop doesn't get used everyday. Granted it isn't as durable as the Samsung SATA disk counterpart in my main computer and won't come close to the even faster PCI-e SSD's used for the boot and games drives. I didn't buy it for that though, it was used to upgrade my HP 8770W laptop computer's original HDD. I am very happy with the 250GB version, very affordable price as well for what little I use it. The read/write speeds for this disk top out at around 550MB/s on SSD to SSD transfers which is the max speed of the SATA interface and pretty much the same for all SATA type solid state drives. I tired that out directly using the 2nd drive bay in the laptop to connect my other Samsung 870 EVO alongside the Kingston. The Kingston was setup as the main disk of course, and the Samsung was removed after testing it out that way. You'll see a noticeable improvement in loading time for everything when updating from the now almost obsolete platter disk drives. I would buy this again, and may again some day whenever the one I have now fails. It should last for years really since the laptop this drive is in is seldom used these days. Recently one of my great nieces has began using it for random computer gaming so it will wear out at some point I suppose. It seems very durable so far though. It was very easy to install, only required a small + type screw driver and then installing a fresh copy of Windows 11 on the drive. It was a very fast Windows install, finishing the install process in less than 10 minutes. If you are just using it as a second disk and not installing an OS on it then you may have to initialize the disk before the operating system can see it for formatting. Some people may use other methods to preserve their original disk data like disk cloning or raid setups. There wasn't much of anything of value on the original disk so installing from nothing was not a problem. Of course I have all the drivers and such for the older laptop backed up on a flash drive, and an additional hard drive in case HP drops the model from their support pages. I guess that sums it then, hope the review helps other people choose the SSD that fits their needs.
