The drawings and story were infectious! Really loved the response from my grandchildren! They adored it!!

I bought this for my niece because it was recommended by the New York Times. The illustrations are wonderful, but unfortunately the writing is digressive and manic in tone. The author seems to be writing to kids with low attention spans. Maybe he should trust his readers and not be so desperate to distract/entertain? Obviously, he's a gifted illustrator. It would be interesting to see him pair up with a gifted writer for his next book--someone who can write a subtle, satisfying story to match his charming drawings.
