Cab Ride No. 22 Dvd - Liverpool Street to Kings Lynn. For our first Cab Ride in East Anglia, we travelled aboard Stratford’s “flagship”, Class 47 No. 47581 “Great Eastern” on one of the through trains over this route. These trains were due to be curtailed at the beginning of the Summer 1989 timetables, to be replaced by Class 321 units as Cambridge, with a 47-hauled shuttle from there to Kings Lynn. We saw the line before electrification commenced beyond Cambridge and the journey features the wonderful array of semaphores around Ely, also due for destruction. Our thanks are due to BR Anglia Region for arranging this Cab Ride and to Inspector George Towler and Driver Dale Gilbert from Cambridge and Kings Lynn respectively, who gave us such an interesting Cab Ride. This Cab Ride was recorded on Wednesday 8th March 1989. Please note: There is no commentary other than cab conversations which are not always audible above locomotive sounds. Approximately 110 minutes.
