I've been editing with Sony Movie Studio 12 for the past 8 years, and had much success with it. It's very user friendly and is capable of doing all that I need.I thought I'd upgrade to the more current version of the software. After poking around in it for a couple weeks, with it being incredibly unfriendly, user-wise, I ended up going back to 12, and the different is night and day. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I like the easy learning curve.

I had some old camcorder videos digitised and wanted to smarten them and create sharper edits. I also had a load of holiday video on my iPhone that I wanted to turn into a something I could add to YouTube. I had a look around for available software and Magix movie studio seemed to have on reviews and was priced well for a hobbyist like me.I have found the software ok, but it can be unreliable.The Good: Fairly intuitive and pretty straightforward importing video and creating simple edits. There are loads of features and once you get stuck in you will want to start playing with zooms, audio cleaning, and the large variety of digital effects on offer.It can become quite complicated quite quickly, but there are loads of videos on YouTube that can help explain most things, and once you get the hang of the software trial and error is a great way to learn as long as you have patience.Overall I have managed to take some oldCamcorder footage, cut it together, change the colouration, improve the audio somewhat and add video effects.The Bad: The software is prone to crashing, so save often (there is an auto save function).I find the software can also be frustratingly glitchy. Clips sometimes disappear, or fades rearrange themselves randomly which means some sections I had to go over a few times. Audio sometimes disappears so you end up having to ‘restore original audio’ even though you didn’t touch the audio on the first place.Audio has also created problems elsewhere. There is a function where you can split the audio and the video onto two separate tracks and decouple them. This is really useful if you want to cut a different clip in to a section but keep the audio from the first clip. Or in this case, you want to remove some of the audio from a clip. However I have had persistent problems with this. After removing some of the audio, I find that it reappears even though there is no visual element on the timeline to represent it. Suddenly your project becomes a house of cards and fixing one thing creates a problem elsewhere and i have to revert to a back up. If you have a particular complication project on the go, this is a big problem.So overall you get a lot of features for your money and the software is easy to use, however it can be unreliable and with every edit or change I make, I end up going back over the project to make sure nothing else has gone awry.Incidentally, I had no problems with the registration and installation. Other reviewers have expressed frustration with this, but it’s not a deal breaker by any means.

Filme und Fotos auf DVD machen, ist von Magix super, war aber mal Besserung. Neue Software da muss man zu viel Online dazukaufen
