Glorified (very expensive) trowel - straight edge is not actually sharp
For the price, am not very impressed with this. It's basically a glorified trowel - it does have a serrated edge on one side, but to call the other side a sharp edge is a massive exaggeration. I thought the straight edge would be a proper sharp cutting edge, but I couldn't cut anything much with that side, and the serrated edge is not particularly sharp either. So while you could use the serrated edge to quickly cut through green stems, like say flower stems, or very thin woody stems, it's not up to any serious cutting. Anything you could easily cut with this, you could cut just as quickly with little gardening snips. I was seduced by the idea of having a tool that'll do multiple jobs, but this doesn't do any of them very well for me. It's not very wide for a trowel, either, so would probably prefer a normal trowel for most digging jobs. I don't really need to measure a planting hole in cm or inches, either.. The sharpener that comes with it is tiny, with a little dinky key-ring chain on it. And as it doesn't actually have a straight edge that is sharp, I am not sure what I'm supposed to be sharpening, anyway. If I actually wore a belt while gardening, the belt pouch would be handy, but as I don't, it's not much good. And the belt pouch does not contain a pocket for the sharpener, as stated in the product description, either, so the sharpener will doubtless get lost, as so small. On the plus side, it is well made, both the belt pouch and the tool, but to me, it's a well made gimmick.

Superb tool!
Although it has a sheath and crossguard, and bears a resemblance to a large knife, this is very much a trowel, and a superb trowel at that. I have used it to cut large sods of peat and it does so with ease, and is excellent for digging through dense roots of all kinds, including willow roots in boggy ground. I would especially recommend this to botanists or horticulturalists digging in boggy ground or where there is dense ground. It is excellent for working on pond vegetation too. General naturalists will find it extremely useful too. I would not especially recommend this tool to survivalists as they would find only limited use for it, although I could yet be proved wrong.

Must have garden tool
What an excellent garden product, seen it on a shopping channel on TV and liked the product but much preferred this one.I have sadly been missing out on such a versatile tool and struggle by in the garden for years, but not any longer, I used the same day it arrived, I couldn't wait. Every time I'm the garden it comes with me, its thee best ever gardening tool. As described, high quality, very well made, very good price, and a lovely carry pouch, delivered ahead for original date. A must for all gardeners.

Nearly perfect.
Looks good, blade seems of high quality but already noticed the handle is creaking and a slight gap between the wood and tang so may have long term issues with it . As its got a decent warranty though I'd still recommend . As a tool its fantastic though . The sharpener is a bit naff and I would like to see a better sheath even if the knife was more expensive.

quality tool
Very well made and designed product. The blade has a full length tang nicely secured into a comfortable quality wood handle. Blade itself looks to be made of high quality stainless steel, nicely marked with planting depths, useful saw edge on one side and sharpened edge on the other. The sheath it is supplied with is also of high quality, very impressed with the product.

a handy small bulb planter
This little tool is a must for any gardener its so handy, great for planting bulbs and plants, grubbing out weeds in lawns opening bags of compost and dividing plants.

Good bit of kit
Bought this to use in metal detecting as its half the price of one dedicated for detecting. Its great at cutting roots and is sharp enough for me. Gave it 4 stars as it hangs a bit wonky from my belt as the handle is very heavy. Would recommend though great service also
