As Good As It Gets
This tape, Scotch 3850, is the best tape on the market for any normal consumer applications. This is the top of the line for Scotch (aside from some heavy industrial tapes that you don't need and probably won't find on Amazon anyway.) We have been using this tape daily for years, on anything from small boxes (1 book size) to really big boxes (30 x 24 x 20) and this stuff works great regardless of the application. Yes, it's more expensive, but it is by far worth the investment if you ship regularly, or even as a one time purchase if you are moving or something. It sticks well to any type of cardboard, plastic or poly bags, etc. Your cost can be mitigated a bit by watching for price fluctuations and buying more at once. For this listing, Scotch 3850-8, the price is usually quite reasonable, but can creep up sometimes to a level where it's not worth it. Anyway, something to keep in mind if you're shopping around--the part number for this tape is 3850. The -8 at the end only means it's an 8 pack. So, Scotch 3850-6 or 3850-3 are exactly the same tape, just a different quantity of rolls in the pack.I don't usually write reviews, but here is why I'm writing this one... I feel the need to respond to the reviews that say this tape does not stick well. It does. UNLESS it is OLD. So-- if you order this tape in any quantity and it doesn't stick well, it is past its shelf life and should be returned to the seller. You can usually tell if it's too old just by looking at a roll from the side. If it has a tan/ brownish look to it AT ALL the tape is old. Also, when looking through a roll from the outside, this tape should be completely (almost freakishly) crystal clear all the way through the roll to the cardboard at the center.Bottom line: If this tape is still within a decent shelf life, it can't be beat. It's well worth the money. If the tape is old, the glue has degraded and the entire order should be returned. (And whoever sold it to you in the first place should have known better.) If you receive the tape in good condition, but it is then subjected to fluctuating heat/cold/humidity, etc. the shelf life will drop considerably, so don't throw your extra rolls up in the attic. :)Though I'm not certain, the shelf life for this tape in its best condition seems to be somewhere between 1 and 2 years, probably closer to a year.

Best tape, and I shipped thousands of packages too.
I'm a retired shipper for many years and I have packaged and shipped thousands of packages for shipments to every state in the country as well as overseas. We would order this tape by the case; many cases at a time. It was always my preferred and trusted tape throughout my employment as a shipper. Very strong stuff which never let me down... You won't go wrong with this stuff. If by chance anyone needs a good tape gun that will last you for many years, I can recommend the Tach-It EX-2 heavy duty tape gun. There are a few cheaper guns out there but this Tach-It is superior to them all. We would order the tape guns as well as the cases of this Scotch tape in bulk from a shipping supply company that sold to various companies. Shift after shift my tape gun would last me for many years without fail, and packaging thousands of packages too. The gun might be available from different sellers under different names but they are the same guns; metal guns which are orange in color with the beige handle. I can assure you that the gun will probably outlive you. It's built to last and most important is that it's comfy in your hand even if using it for an eight hour shift too. I'll put the link here in case it might be of help to someone. Happy wrapping! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G9QRUZ2?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Don’t Settle for Less and Get Stuck
When it comes to packing/shipping tape, my company has tried every brand available. This is the real thing, and although it doesn’t cost much more, it offers much more strength and adhesion than others we’ve tried. I’m all for trying other brands, but with Scotch or 3M tapes, they are the ones to compare any others against.

Legit product, cheaper elsewhere
It appears to be legit Scotch brand tape. It works well. If you have access to Costco, though, we got the same product for about $20 today, while this product is listed at $35 here. It was around $30 when I first purchased it on Amazon over two years ago. Buy it elsewhere.

Excellent adhesion, strong and durable.
I've tried other brands, but none stay "stuck" as well as Scotch! In warm conditions or very cold conditions, Scotch Packaging Tape adheres well and stays in place. I use if for shipping packages of all sizes and weights, and I've never had a customer tell me that the taped seams worked loose. Tape is a bit heavier (thicker) than some of the others, but is easy to cut and apply, even with the economical plastic dispensers. Using Scotch Packaging Tape, I pack it, and ship it, and have no worries about the tape failing in shipment! After trying the other brands, I now place my trust in Scotch!

Scotch Heavy Duty tape is perfect for moving
I wish I had ordered two sets of the 8-pack of tapes. Scotch makes nice heavy, strong tape which held up really well in my move. I had to run out and buy more tape the day before my move, and U-Haul was closest. The U-Haul brand tape is more expensive, ridiculously thin and kind of floats, folds over, and sticks to itself, and it's really difficult to pull up the end of the tape if it gets stuck to the roll. Then it splits down the middle as you're trying to peel the end up, and you waste a lot of tape and time getting it started again. No splitting with the Scotch tape. Next time I move I'm definitely going to make sure I have more than enough Scotch heavy duty tape on hand.
