As Here Come the Brides proves, it seems that supergroups are the solo projects of the new millennium. And why not? In Brides of Destruction, there's an ex-member of Motley Crue (no less than Nikki Sixx on bass) and an ex-member of LA Guns (Mr Tracii Guns himself on lead guitar). Alone, either of them would be guaranteed a small-but-loyal fanbase; together, they're 80s hard-rock gods. By and large, they stick to what they know, a fact that should please most of their fans. Here Come the Brides is almost by-the-numbers hard rock of the Sunset Strip scene from the late 1980s. Singer London LeGrand's voice manages to inject the two rock veterans with a contemporary power and sound (there's certainly more obvious masculinity to his vocal style). Songs like "Shut the Fuck Up" and "Natural Born Killers" sound like later Motley Crue songs, while "Life" is a shout-along anthem worthy of the best spandex and leather. To their credit, the Brides of Destruction never confound expectations. --Robert Burrow
