Doesn't Look Like the Picture, but Good
At first I didn't notice that instead of the controls being on top they were on front, but most of these units are the same inside anyway. This one is rated 8000btu/hr and was in the box for theZAFRO 8,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioners I ordered. After running it overnight and using a 7 quart bucket for the hose and almost running it over I decided to run the hose outside. To do this I set it atop a crate with a tray just in case it leaked, allowing the water drain to run downhill and not collect in the hose. The exhaust tube is also slightly downhill because I was afraid rain might blown into it and drain inside the unit itself. As far as installation it was straight forward, the manual was clearly written, and mostly obvious what was needed to mount and assemble. The description of the water tank inside was a bit vague where the two drains are considered since the only reason for the lower drain would be if you did not use the upper drain and hose, making it necessary to lift it up and drain collected water after the auto shutoff occurs due to a full tank (light indicates full, too). The operation also was clear with a few exceptions: Sleep Mode use, Timer use, and how it operates to maintain the temperature. Sleep mode is not explained and works simply to turn the fan down to low and slowly raise the selected temperature 2° after a few hours. Timer use requires the unit to be off to set the number of hours before it automatically turns on; and while running the timer can be set to turn off in like fashion. However, the times I have tried auto start the unit has not turned on, but it is not something I really need. The operation is such that if you set the temperature to 70° the unit will run until it reaches below that and turn off with the lights still operating on the display. You may also hear the compressor cycle off every 30 minutes which allows any ice accumulation to be cleared in the evaporator, then cycle back on with the fan still running. When the unit is not running and the temperature rises 2° the unit will automatically turn itself back on and repeat cooling until it reaches just below the selected temperature again. The biggest negatives: Selection Chimes and Bright Lights. I found the selection chime that occur with ever button press to be annoying, but there is nothing that can be done short of disassembly to find the source and mute it, not something anyone would really do. So it is loud and unnecessary. The bright lights on the display cannot be dimmed either, and contrary to some indication that sleep mode dims the lights, it does not on this one. The remedy was strips of green tape over the lights, which are still visible easily, and show the functions of the unit. The remote is easy to use and displays the selected temperature. It has Timer, Sleep, Fan low/high, Cool, Dehumidify, Fan Only, and On/Off buttons. There is no backlighting, which would have been nice at night. You can select low or high fan, but we typically use the unit in our bedroom on low all night long and keep the central air at a higher setting rather than cool the entire downstairs to our desired sleep setting. It is really nice and cool. If you can't get used to or the noise bothers you too much you can use the memory foam ear plugs like I use to quiet it down. I used the ear plugs anyway for snoring coming from my wife and dog at times. The unit should run far cheaper than the cost of central air (still waiting for billing comparisons) and as stated the bedroom is very cool and comfortable now.One note concerns the initial operation that says to wait 4 hours (in one place) before operating it to allow the oil to drain into position in the compressor and tubing. Another place it says 24 hours. The box shows the carrier with arrows how it should be handled for delivery, but do carriers actually keep the box upright? I waited over eight hours for full operation, briefly checking that it worked on arrival and installation. The air is cold and the unit has worked as advertised for us. So far, very happy even though this one was sent and does say Zafro on the label but is identical to the R.W.FLAME 8,000 BTU Air Conditioner sold on Amazon.

A LIFESAVER for my HOT Office
This unit has been a lifesaver for my office space (I live in Georgia). As someone who lives in a state known for its sweltering summers, I can attest to the effectiveness of this unit. It efficiently cools down my office area (14"x9"), despite my office's poor air circulation. The remote control and timer functions add convenience and make it easy to control while on a call or at my desk. The LED display provides clear information but sometimes the tactile feeling is a little finicky.Whether you're battling a heatwave or just need a cool workspace, this portable AC offers reliable and efficient cooling. Definitely recommend!

Works well for a small room - with some quirks
I bought this unit for a room that is 160 square feet. The advertised model is 'Zafro' but when it arrived (on the earliest specified date) the box and unit simply read 'Portable Air Conditioner.' I am thinking that all these similar size units come from the same factory with different casings per distributor. That turns out to be important due to some quirks I have discovered.First of all, the unit works very well. It cools the room adequately in all but the hottest temps (above 100F/38C). If your outside temp is regularly above those maximums, I suggest getting a 12,000 BTU model. The description claims to cool to 350 s.f. but I am skeptical about that. Like all these types of portable AC's, fiddling with the hose vent is the biggest problem and this unit is no different, no better/no worse. Deal with it.Some Recommendations/Cautions:1. Purchase the 12k BTU model if your room is larger than 250 s.f. and/or outside temps are above 100F/38C.2. The rear removable hose attachment to the unit's vent exhaust only goes one way and is not marked. It took me a while to figure it out. I marked the top and slide direction with a felt marker so I would know which way is up and which way to slide--outside to inside (see photo).3. The remote control is not backlit (see photo). I suggest using it frequently until your muscle memory adjusts to the placement of the buttons, especially when using it at night.4. The control panel on top is poor placement since one is likely to tap buttons when moving the unit during operation. I accidentally brushed the power button with my palm several times while making minor adjustments to unit placement with the side indented handles. That meant I had to wait 3 minutes to power back on while the compressor re-balanced (I don't trust the internal timing regulator). There is a 'lock' button (press for 3 seconds to engage/disengage) which locks the settings but also locks out the remote.5. The 'sleep' setting does two things: turns the fan setting to low and dims the panel lights.6. The unit cycles off completely (cooling and fan motor) when the desired temp is reached, then cycles back on if the room temp warms up.7. I have not used it in 'dehumidify-only' or 'fan-only' modes.8. Decibel levels are reasonable: in the 50's for high fan, 40's for low fan or sleep mode.9. The water drain has two outlets with plugs: one in the middle and another at the bottom. Either can be used for draining. There is a small interior pan to collect a little water. I have no idea why there would be a drain at the very bottom since it is gravity fed--unless you position the unit over a drain in the floor or have the AC up on a box. I use the mid-level drain, attach the included hose and extend it to a water jug (see photo). The gallon jug fills after about 4 hours - one quart/hour. If you run the unit overnight I suggest using a bucket or larger jug. Just remember that it is gravity fed and the hose end must be lower than the drain outlet on the AC; also the hose end must not become immersed. If the flow is restricted, the unit will redirect the water to the internal small bottom pan and when it overflows you will have a mess with water on the floor.10. The vent in front has manual up and down and side to side panel controls that work well.Having said all of that, despite the few quirks (minus one star) I am happy with the unit because it cools effectively for my purposes.
