I have a binding machine that uses combs and am always wrestling with the combs to get them set up the correct way and if I have to reopen and adjust the booklet it is a real hassle. I ordered these because I thought they would be a more straightforward way to secure the booklets I produce.The combs are a hard but flexible plastic and to seal them I only have to fold them in half along the center bar and push the ends together until they lock. There is a little piece that sticks out on one end and a little cavity on the other end where they mesh.My machine will punch the holes but it will not hold these combs. I had to lay a comb on the table and feed each sheet of paper into it, one by one. Then I had to push each individual ring to secure it and it took several minutes to finish. When making just one booklet it wasn't bad, but to do multiples would just take too long.The combs are pretty colors, flexible, and do lock together tightly. I was able to trim them with my office scissors. They were just too time consuming to use with my existing binding machine.

These binding spines are just the right size for a binding machine I ordered recently that only came with a couple for practice. I love the assortment of cheerful colors, and they feel like they're made with thick, sturdy plastic. Now I need to try to find covers that coordinate with these binding colors. LOL I definitely recommend these.
