I'm unsure why other reviewers were struggling with reliability, but when i installed a 1TB SSD, it worked just as described with included cable. Not a hitch. It's form factor makes it easy to grip, and the rippled top acts like a heat sink drawing heat away from my phone. A powerful magnetic base ensures it stays attached.The 2230 SSD does make this kind of solution a bit more expensive out of the box than say, a larger but less expensive drive. However i've experienced absolutely no abnormal heat issues using a high quality SSD, and 'the fit' more than makes up for a few bucks i'd save going with a cheaper drive. Hats off to ACASIS for a well build and solidly engineered product for so little money.Bonus: due to the solid magnet in the ACASIS base, i was able to attach a MagSafe ring atop my 10,000mah MagSafe battery pack for extra long video life. the accompanying cable fits such a stacked rig really well and it feels good in my hands. not too heavy and well balanced. of course everyone's hands are different — but it works for me!I don't typically publish reviews, but i'm pleased as 'punch' with this purchase. Upgraded my ROG Ally with a bigger drive. Put the older one in here and used it as a backup for my phone or a good high-speed portable drive for moving files. Kinda heavy but good quality.

I purchased this as a gift. For the price, it performs well. No complaints other than it’s a little difficult to open sometimes when swapping drives. The metal is also a tad thin but that didn’t compromise the performance. That said, it was dropped on a corner and it had to be hammered back into place. Pliers will split it but hammering was successful. Offering a protective case would be a good option.Everything needed to make it work was included (except for an SSD of course). This tool-free, aluminum NVMe enclosure for 2230 SSDs is a solid buy! It has a clever snap in cover for quick and easy installation/removal and comes with thermal pads (not sure about the conductivity since I’m using my own). I paired it with a Western Digital SN740 2TB SSD and tested it both on a 14” M1 MacBook Pro and a Windows laptop. The speeds were as expected while the enclosure only got to be lukewarm to the touch. It came with a rubberized USB-C to C cable that was about 3-4” in length.The enclosure is square in its dimensions with two side areas unused. IMHO the designer could’ve made this enclosure much more compact by eliminating this extra space on the sides but this is really not a complaint. Highly recommended for anyone looking for something like this to hold their 2230 drive.(For those of you looking for an enclosure to mount on your video rig, the USB-C port is in the center of the enclosure.)

I put my steam decks original 256gb SSD in it for a quick and easy portable drive. The device was detected but the drive was never able to be seen. I tried mounting it in Windows 11, MacOS and externally on the SteamDeck.

Takes that Steamdeck handheld surplus SSD, when you've swap in more space (short M.2 size 2230) SSD. Although over-sized case, sticks to your phone, no overheating plastic shell here.

This product does not get detected by iphone 15 pro. It requires too much power to read the NVME. I recommend going in a different direction if you're trying to back up your files or record in pro res because it will not work at all. It may detect it sometimes but it will lag and not respond well. Files do not transfer properly and end up corrupt. Camera will say no external hard drive detected. Gets very hot very fast. A very expensive external hard drive (including nvme m.2 necessary for purchase) Look elsewhere.

The device is very sturdy. It has quick transfers for a good price.
