Brilliant upgrade from my Rider 410 – worth it for the features alone
I’ve been using TomTom Rider sat navs for years and this Rider 500 has been a really solid upgrade from my old Rider 410. The 410 was good, but this feels like a much more modern, polished unit and it’s genuinely made day rides and touring easier. The biggest win for me is the Wi-Fi updates. With the 410 I always found updates a bit of a faff (plugging in, syncing, etc). With the Rider 500 it’s simple and quick, so the device actually stays up to date without it feeling like a chore. Same goes for maps and speed cameras. The screen is a great size for a bike. 4.3 inch is spot on. Clear, bright, and easy to glance at without taking your eyes off the road for too long. It also feels more responsive than the 410 in day-to-day use. The motorcycle specific routing is where it really shines. The “winding and hilly roads” options are genuinely fun and I’ve found some great routes I wouldn’t have picked myself. It still gets the basics right too, and recalculates quickly if you miss a turn or decide to take a detour. TomTom Traffic has been useful for avoiding queues, and overall it just feels built for motorbike use rather than a car sat nav adapted for a bike. If you’re coming from an older model like the Rider 410, this is a proper step up. Very happy with it and I’d buy it again. 5 stars.

Perfect GPS for bikers. Mount may not fit your bike. Faultless so far.
Simple to set up and use, quick to get going. This is my second TomTom Rider, the last one, a 2017 version, allowed rain to get in and stopped working - a known fault. I hope this one does better. On my ZZR I had to buy an EVOTECH central mount as the TomTom one supplied couldn't be made to fit. The TomTom came with a nice length of wire and connector. Simple. Great solution for bike touring and long rides. It showed a diagram to connect to a computer on start up, which was confusing, so i just charged it for 30 mins then it was fine! Battery was flat, only.

Motorcycle sat nav
Sat nav is excellent, however description didn't state that the fixing mount for a motorcycle was included, do I ended up with two of those as a purchased a separate one 🤦

Navigate to a DIFFERENT satnav.
It's hard to put into words just how much I hate this satnav. It is physically well built and the enclosed Ram mounts work well. (Although I did have to buy an additional piece so I could fit it to my bike). Wiring was easy. Now for the cons. It's slow. Very slow. The maps do not start reacting for a while after you start your ride. Sometimes, the map freezes only to react again after a few minutes. A number of features simply do not work: audible speed warning, Google voice connection, other audible warnings. The user interface is poor and unintuitive. The control system is poorly designed. Apparently, when you have designed a route, you have to click RIDE, even though you may not be going yet. Saved routes disappear. Search facility is poor. I rarely find what I'm looking for on my first attempt. I haven't tried postcodes yet. Maps lack place name details. To cancel a route while riding, you have to access the menu system instead of clicking a button. Google maps on my smartphone is so much better than this satnav. I wish I had gone with the Garmin equivalent. Instead, I've wasted more than £330 on this unfit for purpose piece of garbage.

Updates over the Internet without computer connection
This is a really good product. The outstanding feature is the internet connection and the updating on the bike in the garage. It was easy to install and feels robust. The head is easy to remove from the bike if it is left unattended by pushing a lever. The display and directions are clear and easy to understand. I am very happy with this purchase.

Solid
Solid piece of kit. It took some help from TomTom support to get it updated but they were great. Not actually used it yet but can’t wait to!

Knows the way Home
Found to be effective and very useful, especially on planning longer routes. Clear screen and many great options.

Great Item a t a great price. Only disappointment was that ( I live in Australia) the TomTom came with European maps only. I had to pay another $65 to get Australian maps. The product itself though is great.

Tomtom or garmin ? Think they are good both
