Gripping and boldly beautiful graphic novel!
This book so exceeded my expectations. My 5th grade daughter loves graphic novels. She studied The Aeneid in school and I thought this was the perfect way to make the story more accessible and memorable. This book is 72 pages so, of course, by necessity, it is abridged. Also, this is not a direct translation nor is it In verse. Instead, it reads in modern and easily understandable text which I count as a serious plus. I think the authors did a great job of choosing the most important points so that the story flows well. It is actually quite gripping in this format. The illustrations are bold and colorful. Beware, this is a violent epic poem so there is a lot of violence and bloodshed but if the authors tried to smooth over the violence, the story would be altered too far form Virgil’s original epic. This book is so good that I ended up reading it and so did my husband. I just ordered The Iliad from this same group!

Modern Day Classics Illustrated!
I order this along with the comic versions of The Iliad and The Odyssey. Very charming little books geared, of course, towards young readers to exposed them to the classics. From the inside cover there are lots of other titles in this series adapted from the originals by various comic writers and artists from around the globe. The adapting writers stick pretty closely to the original, as is the case here, and while some of the English translations are iffy , esp the spoken dialogue bubbles -(this particular book was originally written in Spanish - the creative team is Argentine), the general plot and meaning come through. My major disappointment is with the lathe operator who cut the margins of the book. My copy was cut too short leaving possibly as much as 1/4" to 1/2" of the original pages along the right-hand margin missing. Amazon replaced with a second copy that had the same defect as the first one they sent. Perhaps their whole batch was literally "cut short" on that side of the book, so I did NOT ask for another replacement.

3 out of 5
This has really nice artwork. I love that these legends are being put into this format. Unfortunately, I think this book is just too short. So much of it seems glossed over and chopped down and the writing suffers for it. It should easily have been double the page count.

A Classic that I look forward to reading with my grandchildren
This is a classic and I want to read it with my grandchildren to expose them to this type of literature.

Fair. Not Good.
It's very abridged, and I mean that in the context of, it's very abridged for a short comic of an epic poem. The Trojan Horse got a faint mention in a picture. Turnus got way too much attention in the back-and-forth battles, and the sections with the gods are hard to follow and simplistic. I'm very familiar with the tale and had a hard time piecing together who was who. My four-year old didn't have a chance, even with me narrating and explaining. At a certain point I began to speculate this was created with AI by a person unfamiliar with the poem. The emphasis is repeatedly all wrong. Maybe your mileage will vary, and the book is not expensive so perhaps give it a try. I thought it not worth the money.
