Sky Longing For Memories, A : The Art of Makoto Shinkai

Great art, but for the price I would have expected a bigger book.

I'm a fairly recent convert to Makoto Shinkai's work, having only become aware of him when the buzz around Your Name happened. I am fascinated by the level of detail in his anime and so this book of background art is right up my street. Anyone interested in digital landscape painting, concept art or anime art in general would enjoy the book.The chapter detailing some of the process used is interesting and useful to digital artists however as some have noted some of the images are a bit on the small side.

Every single page is stunning! I haven't watched any of the films yet, I was just looking for random art books to have and to flick through. I came across this, thinking, 'oh that looks kinda cool'. Got it two days ago and I can't stop looking through! It's so inspiring for any artist. I highly recommend. It has become one of, if not, my favourite art book. Also, absolutely worth the price.
