Mitutoyo Steel Rectangular Gage Block, ASME Grade AS-1, 0.15 mm Length

I had this calibrated at a local precision shop here in Kansas City, Missouri, this is dead accurate.

These gage blocks are great. I use them to check my mics, calipers, and height gage. Only the nominal length is calibrated. Grade AS-1 means that they are calibrated to plus or minus 0.2 microns. The rule of thumb is to use a gage block calibrated to a level 10 times more accurate than the tool you will use it to check. In this case, Grade AS-1 is sufficient to check my micrometer with a resolution of 0.002mm. I bought the 30mm x 9mm x 3mm block expecting that I would be able check the accuracy of my Mitutoyo calipers (500-196-30). The 3mm side of it was spot on ... exactly 3.00 mm. But the 30 and 9 sides of this block were off ... 29.94 and 8.88. Apparently only the 3mm side is what is inspected and the block is actually lasered with a "3". So I'm not sure if the of the other sides of the block are suppose to be 30.00 and 9.00 exactly or if my calipers are off.

It came with a certificate and in Mitutoyo packaging box. Wrapped in the usual anti corrosive paper inside a plastic bag. Slightly oiled. High accuracy stands to the Mitutoyo name. Both sides are mirror shining finish. Amazing and astonishing quality.

Was expecting non measuring faces to be nominal 30.0mm x 9.0mm as in the description and in the Mitutoyo catalog. My thickness measured 8.9mm rather than 9.0. Disappointing from a company like Mitutoyo.

Guys, read teh dimensions before buying. I wished someone would post what the critical measured dimension was. We wanted to measure 30mm but the calibrated dimension was 9mm side....very disappointing/confusing.

The size the correct except the I can’t calibrate my gages well with it.
