Disappointed
I was so happy to get these for my birthday last year. Got them, followed the instructions. Waited a year, they haven’t grown. Not even sprouted.

Hard To Grow
I've been growing Dicentra Spectabilis (or Bleeding Hearts, as they're commonly known) in my garden for a few years now, and I've learned quite a bit about what makes these beauties tick. They're fascinating plants with some pretty specific preferences - think of them as the cool-weather loving introverts of the garden world. They thrive in those partly shady spots and actually go dormant when summer gets too hot, which is pretty clever if you ask me. The seed situation is interesting - while you can grow them from seed, you're in for quite the wait. We're talking three years before you'll see any flowers! That's why most home gardeners (myself included) usually opt for mature plants instead. The pros typically save seed propagation for developing new varieties or large-scale growing operations. When it comes to care, these plants are kind of like Goldilocks - they want everything just right. The soil should be consistently moist but not waterlogged, and they absolutely love rich, loamy soil with lots of organic matter. I've found they do best in slightly elevated spots with good drainage. During the growing season, I combine watering with feeding, which seems to make them really happy. One thing I've learned the hard way is that they need their space and plenty of air flow. I originally planted mine too close together and had to relocate a few. Regular pruning and proper spacing have made a huge difference in how they perform. Give them these conditions, and they'll reward you with those quintessential heart-shaped blooms that make them such garden favorites.
