Great discovery and at a great price too. Elsewhere it was up to almost double the price. Fitting 2 water butt's in an awkward place, the downpipe is on the wrong side of the fence. The diverter supplied is to flimsy and does not offer any filtering methods. I looked at a well know brand but that was possibly too bulky then I discovered this product. Simplicity in operation and did not require cutting the down pipe in half. The provided hole saw did the job. A hole in the down pipe, through the fence and into the water butt, job done. Just be careful with your levels. It all works brilliantly no leaks in any of the joints. When the butts are full the water carries on into the drains as it should.

"5 minutes to instal" - maybe, if you've installed several of them before, or you've got the particular DIY skills required, and that doesn't apply to me. It took me an hour, but the instructions were good, and the next time it rained the water butt duly filled up without leaks or overflows. It's pricey but it is a lot less fiddly than any other rain diverter I've seen. Recommended.

This is a brilliant product. Really clever idea, works really well, saving hours of work. Very well made, good quality, and well worth the money. I have used it on a cast iron drain pipe where there was no other option. Only negative the cutter supplied couldn't cut through the cast iron drain pipe, but it is a standard 44mm cutter so bought one from amazon.

This rain catcher is easy to install once you get your head around what it’s trying to say. Just take the parts to the water butt and it all becomes clear. I found that if you are fitting to a steel down pipe the cutter supplied will not work, I bought a 40mm steel cutter on line and it took about ten minutes to complete the install.

Took me longer than most to install this but it works like a charm and i've had mine for over three years now. It saves the hassle of cutting the pipe which i didn't fancy at all. I'm not very diy savvy so surprised that i did it with a small drill and some screw drivers, it comes with a drill attachment to drill the hole in the pipe with, if a dummy like me can fit this then anyone can.

The hole saw provided is for wood; it might also be adequate for plastic, copper, lead or zinc downpipes. It will not cut cast iron. I resorted to an angle grinder to cut a square hole, then a Dremel to round it off. But after fitting the device I collected only a dribble of water. I assume this was because my downpipes are old and severely rusted internally so preventing a proper seal. The product is ingeniously designed and I imagine would work well with smooth internal surfaces. But for cast iron - forget it.
