Beyond the Blue Hills
Tess Collin and her younger sister Tina live on Liverpool. Life is different Danny and his cousin Phil. Life on the farm is different and with war coming relationship with also change. Soon Danny leaving to become a pilot and feeling resentful of Danny life soon take advantage of Sophie, a young woman who close to Danny.I have confess that "Beyond the Blue Hills" sat on my bookshelf for a long time and I can see why. I can't figure out why so many other readers liked this book so much I have to say that I have to force myself to finish it. While others may have liked and even loved it, it is not a keeper for me!

Very enjoyable
I thoroughly enjoy Katie Flynn books. as they take place in war years and do not contain the foul language that so many authors feel they must use. Hopefully Katie will read this and clarify one small point. Danny and Phil were cousins so how could Christopher be Danny's nephew? Would he not be Danny's second cousin?

Good storyline
Enjoyed this storyline, quite busy with the different characters helping either on one farm or the other. Also the Liverpool side to it, is an addition to the story. Then the war side of it still linking back to the original storyline, don't want to give the game away, just sit back and enjoy the read.

Another Katie Flynn must read
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Katie Flynn never disappoints. I found myself reading into the small hours, falling asleep with it in my hand waking up a couple of hours later, glasses still on my nose thinking just another chapter! Looking forward to the next one...

No story
So boring stop reading it halfway through, too much focus on every little detail of family life, for example how hard to ride a bike up a hill too much detail about every day happenings, no real story or action so mundane

Always great reads ....
~ I'm steadily reading my way through Katie Flynn's (Judith Saxton's) books & LOVING ALL of them!! I LOVE novels over 5-600 pages (Kindle) I'm intrigued about the time period (WWII) that is her genre, she writes as if she personally experienced ALL of her characters lives!!!! :D~ Thus far my only issues have been reading "Liverpool Taffy" last, then trying to decide IF I wanted to read "Liverpool Lass!!" ONLY TO DISCOVER that I SHOULD'VE read LASS, "Polly's Pride" (which I'd read long before, then I think "Polly's Angel's?") BUT I should've read "Liverpool Taffy" LAST!! Grrr!! Would've been a HUGE HELP to know in PREVIOUS books; IE, that it was a SERIES!!~ If an author is NOT writing a series, I DO like a small EPILOGUE. A book just "dropping off" leaves me feeling ... a bit unfulfilled. :D It's nice to have a clean, tidy ending - without loose ends!! Those were my only reason for the 4 star grade.

Excellent read.
Katie Flynn at her very best. From beginning to end she brings her characters alive and one admires them for the resilient way in which they treat abject poverty and that they always help each other in times of need. a family of 7 take in a mother and 2 daughters when she loses her husband in the war. The war comes from a different perspective in this novel concentrating on farming when most of the men have gone to war and the great tales of the land girls. A must read for K Flynne readers.
