Totally amazing so far
The controller is great. I bought this because I have several dedicated hand held devices, but find too often that when I decide I am in the mood to use one I reach for one and it's totally dead or close to dead and I only get a few minutes of play while the device frantically blinks at me letting me know at any moment everything I just did will be lost (looking at you Anbernic 351). So, since I always have my phone and it's always charged I thought I'd give one of these a try. I got this one specifically because of the USB C connection vs wireless and the size. I also don't mind the very NA SNES color scheme. I have had a long history of trying to use blutooth controllers and never being satisfied. Some games are fine to have that little bit of latency, but not with most of the games I personally play. And with this size, my pockets are deep enough I can still carry it around like normal. I have had this controller on my phone since it arrived a week ago. It doesn't appear to impact phone charging time in any way and will go into some sort of standby if not used for a while so I have not noticed any difference in battery life when not gaming. I've not found anything I dislike about the face buttons, shoulder buttons, analog triggers or analog sticks. The D pad I want to bring more attention to. It's honestly fantastic. Has a great pivot where you can push right down in the middle of the pad and it doesn't go down at all and doesn't register any input when you do this. There is no slop and very little travel distance when pressing the directions in. They are clicky and require very little force giving you good positive feedback that you have pressed the direction (all the buttons are clicky like this). The D pad, buttons and sticks all to me are pretty much perfect as far as how little force is needed to use them. I played through AM2R start to finish and it felt great. Some stand outs to me was how easy wall jumping was early game and later getting through those item challenges when you have to use pretty precise moving tech like storing shinespark and using it then regain it on a small hill.

Love it
The main reason I actually got this is because my USB C port is starting to go out, and I can't reliably charge. This controller clamps my phone in, and has it's own USB C port, which has pass through for charging. Aside from that, in general it works pretty great and seems to have good quality construction. The GameSir app makes it so you can use the controller with games that only support touch screen controls. It can be a little work configuring it for a new game, but it works, period. Other apps I've tried seemed to have weird issues, required changing all kinds of settings, or recommending rooting. I'm glad I ended up getting a GameSir gamepad, because their all seems to work better than the others I've tried (plus I don't think I would have when found out about the app otherwise, when looking online for apps I never came across it).

Great Controller, Slightly Finicky Software
This is my second GameSir controller after purchasing a GameSir X2 Pro, and coming from the Razer Kishi family, I'm really impressed as to what this can do for the cost. As with most people, I had to cut the rubber along the USB-C port as my case was just thick enough to make the connection a bit iffy - a Spigen Cryo Armor for my S23 Ultra, but once it got plugged in properly, it went to work near immediately. The controller feels great in my hands, almost like playing a Switch or a Steam Deck, and in pass-through mode, I'm able to play games like Zenless Zone Zero or anything on Xbox directly, which means near-zero input delay. Though, the software mapping is a bit awkward and doesn't always work as it should on game startup, like for example, Honkai Star Rail. The GameSir app already has a configuration created to map the buttons, but I've noticed it having ghost inputs at times, which given that kind of game, isn't the biggest deal breaker, but considering I purchased this to play HSR when the X2 Pro couldn't, I was definitely annoyed.Adding on that, your mileage may vary with the GameSir app itself. I've had the controller plugged in with a light and the app not detect it regardless of how many times I tried to reconnect it within the app. Usually, just closing the app completely will fix it, but it's again, just annoying to deal with. Otherwise, the app just feels clunky - but I know those kinds of things can be improved on, and here's hoping they will!

NOT COMPATIBLE with CALL OF DUTY
The media could not be loaded. I have a Pixel61. Call of Duty doesn't work.2. And the controls/ do not work properly with it... For example, when I press the UP arrow ⬆️, it goes through the apps on my phone screen to the RIGHT ▶️....When I press the RIGHT arrow ➡️, it goes DOWN...When I press the DOWN arrow ⬇️, it goes LEFT...When I press the LEFT arrow ⬅️, it goes UP...So I have to turn my head completely sideways.... 🙃😵💫Not compatible with CALL OF DUTY. I will be returning this.

Good, but should be better
Disclaimer; I was using this on an iPhone 15 Pro Max, so the experience could be slightly different on Android.I’m a big fan of this telescopic model of phone controllers, and I think GameSir has nailed the foundations better than the top competitors. Rubberized grip is excellent choice. That was the good, now onto what I think is lacking. First and foremost, the software is horrendous, and functionality unusable. The GS, Start, Select, and Screenshot buttons are all mismatched and some don’t even work. Overall, I think the build quality feels cheaper compared to the X2 Pros, which I will talk about again later. The face buttons are tiny, and become uncomfortable to use after prolonged sessions of gaming. And the sticks feel a bit smaller as well, but that’s not as bothersome as the ABXY buttons.I really wanted the X2 Pros to work on iPhone now that it uses USB-C, but unfortunately they find. On the topic of the X2 Pros, they come with a case, whereas the X2S doesn’t! Not major, but definitely a loss. The biggest loss from the Pros are the two buttons on the back. Completely dropped the ball removing rjat
