this is the story of George Scott Robertson (1852-1916)who started off as a doctor became a scientist then a soldier/surgeon and latterly a Liberal politician and knight.As a scientist(ethnographer) he studied the peoples of the Hindu Kush. As a soldier he was involved in the siege of Chitral fort which followed the desth by assassination of the ruler.As a politician he was elected liberal M.P.for Bradford Centra.The book is very well written and researched.The illustrations are those of the time-those from the Illustrated London News and Punch are excellent.therec is a good bibliography.
