Old School Charm
I didn't grow up in America, although I've lived here for 18 years now. But up until a week ago, I had never heard of Dopp Kits. It simply wasn't an expression that was ever on my radar. I've heard of toiletry bag, sponge bag, shaving kit, travel kit and so on. Dopp was simply not something I'd heard about. Ever.Oddly enough I wasn't even looking for a Dopp Kit per se, to keep toiletries in. What I was looking for was a small inexpensive leather bag to hold emergency supplies for my many business trips. A medicine bag / first aid kit if you will. My old one was pretty basic, then I was using some cheap freebie with some sponsor logo on it. I figured I could do better.I loved how flat this one folds to so that it can be stored in my smaller computer bag that is never checked luggage. And I was honestly blown away by the quality and old school charm of this thing. It really feels expensive and well made, even though it is priced at half what I would have expected to pay.Clearly the whole Dopp history is cool, and the old school connections that people remember from previous generations. In an era where something like this would be purchased and be used for decades.I ended up liking it so much I have already ordered a larger model for my actual toiletries to put in my checked luggage for my business trips. And I am excited to try using that, as all my previous toiletry bags have been the modern kind, the most recent a Tumi hanging option. As for this Dopp Kit here are the Pros and Cons:PROS:- Amazing value for money, feels a lot more expensive than it is.- Great supple leather feels and smells great.- Fantastic vintage charm (and I'm not a classic car kind of guy, but still, this is classy and nice).- Feels well made and not cheap or unreliable.- When closed it has a very small footprint for travel.- Feels like owning a piece of history.CONS:- It's a bit small this model. So you better be willing to pack light. If like me you travel a lot and intend to take things like an electric toothbrush, hair brush, tubs of hair product and so on, you will need a bigger option.- In the old school way, it only has one zipper and that zipper has to slide around a couple of bends to open and close. I read another review that complained this was not as easy as some bag designs and that is true.- I feel like the lining might have been more upscale.- Would have been nice to have an internal zipper pocket.- Would have been better if it had some little rubber feet so it didn't sit directly on a wet counter. The bottom line here is I think this is awesome, love the aesthetic and personality of this piece and I am already a repeat customer. Time will tell how this holds up, but honestly at this price, I can always buy another if necessary.

Outstanding
This product is outstanding and the price on Amazon can not be beat. Buxton owns the rights to the Dopp name and produces these "official Dopp" kits. The leather is good, feels solid and well stitched, but you can also get them in a slightly less expensive PVC leatherette version. You can also find these in some stores although the ones I found were double in price. Sometimes the bottoms are leather and sometimes the bottoms were a beaded plastic. Frankly I made sure to get the beaded plastic as it will last longer than a leather bottom. The key features if this Dopp kit are: 1) Construction feels solid. (Although the tag says made in China...you would feel better if it had a proud to be made in the USA tag...however, I don't think this is an issue here.) The leather and stitching feels strong. The zipper is a hefty enough piece of metal that will last. The leather handle is small enough that it fits under the fold of the kit's side if you do not want to use it. The inside is a traditional liner with a single razor pouch, however, the liner and pouch feel like they are made of a newer composite plastic material than the older plastic liners these type of kits used to have. The liner feels stronger and I doubt it will rip, which often happened with travel kits. 2) It has Dopp stamped on it, on two flaps/tabs. The tabs are aesthetic choices but look good and remind you that you have a "real" Dopp and not some random "Men's Toiletry Bag." There are newer types of "Dopp" kit's out there made out of nylon mesh. If you like that I would recommend something by L.L. Bean or Swiss Army. But for something more traditional I would only recommend this brand right here...

best out there
I've had one of these for around 10 years. My son went off to college this year and we bought him one too.

Classic sophisticated dopp kit
Purchased this on January 2015, and i gotta say this worth every penny i spent. I was looking for a simple, understated travel kit with no extra compartments or embossed logo on the exterior, and this is exactly what i want.Pros:- Feels and smells like genuine leather, smooth leather. (It's better to use leather care lotion once in a while as mine has started to show some creases, probably due to hot weather)- Neat and strong stitching along the bottom, the opening, and the inner artificial fabric (see photos)- Bottom material is made of waterproof artificial fabric, wide and hardCons:- I wish the inside pouch were slightly bigger, with a zipper so stuff won't fall off, and can store more stuff- Holds less and more expensive than my Nautica travel kit (see photos)Overall, it's a great product, and with little ocassional care i'm sure this will lasts for years.

Spacious Bag
I like this dopp kit a lot. I've used it quite a few times since I purchased it. It has a lot of space for the things I need. It's well made and inexpensive. I particularly like the wide mouth opening. On a longer trip where I want all of my toiletries I load it up with the following:Contacts (5 pairs or more)Contact solution bottle (full size bottle)Face moisturizer (small bottle)Beard oil (small tin)Electric toothbrush (in a travel pouch)Toothpaste (full sized tube)Safety razor (in a leather 'holster')Shaving soap (in a plastic cup)Shaving brushDeodorant (full size tube)Cotton swabsThat'll about fill it up and it's exactly what I bought it to hold.Looks great, works great, keeps all my toiletries nice and snug.

very nice case
Bought for my son for Christmas so it hasn't been used yet, but the quality is nice. Has that lovely leather smell to it. Note that the bottom is not leather but a woven nylon material -- probably better for any water contact

Quality
Good quality, wonโt hold a whole lot good for light travellers. Base is not leather probably donโt set down on a wet sink top. Good price. Good gift.UpdateWent to buy another one as a Christmas gift Kris Kringle, about a year later and the price has tripled. No longer a good price and certainly not worth $128..

Great travel companion.
Feels classy to use it. One star removed as it doesn't have enough compartments.
