My garden is finally secured!
We live where apparently half the raccoon population of the United States and their pals the gray squirrels have taken up residence. They had been just tearing up my container garden; digging up seedlings, uprooting small plants, scattering seeds and earth in newly planted boxes, dragging my garden tools off to play with, to the point where I was ready to start looking up recipes for rack of raccoon and sauteed squirrel. I tried garlic, critter repellents, red pepper, just everything. Then I got mad. This was a very easy electric fence system to set up. It's strong enough to make an intruding critter think twice, but not to hurt them (well, I was mad at them, but not THAT mad). Since the day I installed it, not one single foray into my garden. Not one. They learned fairly quickly that the wire, which I set about 8" above the ground, was not something pleasant to contact. Problem solved. Good, well priced, and very effective product.

Works perfect
Works great. Easy to install. Used it to create a border between the dogs and chickens. One line close to the ground. Worked perfect. One zap and they stay away. Grass is hitting it but doesn't ground it out.

Very effective against rats, squirrels and o'possums
30 days in, no more problems with rats and squirrels going after our tomatos. Nice spark! I captured a rat on video touching the high voltage wire, it flew in the air and never returned. Same for the squirrel. The o'possum also kept away.

Product stopped working and no one to call
The electric fence charger I bought stopped working and the bot for customer service and warranty doesn’t seem to work at all and there is no one to talk to. Really poor customer service process and right now I have a broken product under warranty and no one to help me

Oh yeha it works just find. See notes.
OK, so there is a short story behind this. Take notes.... I bought my own grounding rod for this, a 3 foot copper rod that i used. Works great. Here are the notes to take. This thing is rated for 2 miles. Use as much line as you can. Literally. My wise idea get you hurt and it was my own fault. All i had was 600 feet of live line. So i used it all. I just run it back and forth around my chicken coop and the run for it. Mind you i have a big run, 20 x 30 with a coop that will house 40 chickens. Good amount of space. I looped the line back and forth, ALL the way round. This thing will put the brakes on you so you're smart enough not to do it again. My wise idea was to test it. I remember them as a kid and yeah it stings. Well, that's when they are properly set up. With only 600 feet of live line, this thing will make your legs buckle. However, We don't have any more issues with coons and coyotes

To weak to keep my medium size dog in
I didn't mean to order the 0.1 but a 1 joule, however I put my hand on the wire by accident and didn't realize what was happening and pull my hand back until the 3rd pulse and shock. When I was a kid, they were always energized constantly whereas everything available now is "pulsating" which means shock for 1 second, off one second, shock one second, off one second, it is supposed to be safer however after much research much less effective. Anything fast enough will learn to cross it including a wild ass dog that can climb a 6foot fence in about that single second. Anyhow after a ton of searching amazon and elsewhere, I found a single company that sells what they call a continuous fence charger or wire charger, it looks different from what i remember as a child but micj more similar than then the pulsating look. We had livestock and such and I obviously touched it multiple times as a child and wasn't sure if i was young and exaggerating the effect but remembered it being pretty SHOCKING but the one now advertises 1400v output and 1200 line volts. I haven't tried measuring but I did ground my self by touching the metal fence the electric wire is on top of and then simultaneously touch the electric wire with the separate hand. Let's just say, I won't test it like that again. It's identical to how I remember the old 1990s boxes we had being and far more effective than the pulsating. If I had to cross a pulsating wire, I wouldn't want too but could on a life or death scenario, im pretty sure id try to cross the continuous im yhensame scenario but not certain i could actually make it over.. however there are some serious issues with what I purchased and read some of the same complaints in reviews. It appears that the continuous one may be made by a smaller company. It has only one mounting hole which is plastic, and blocked by the indicator light that tells you if its on or not. They show a separate mounting bracket in yhe photos that it attaches too but it isn't included and still is supposed to attach to the single hole you can't even out a screw in much less a screw driver or drill. Their advertisements show it installed outdoors but there is a warning label on the actual unsealed unit thats clearly not weather proof that says indoor installation only do not get wet. I used a heavy duty Tupperware in a spot halfway under a roof ledge that rarely sees weather and mounted the Tupperware as a weather resistant box of sorts and then sat the energizer inside it, and made the smallest holes I could for the the wiring. The box is just sitting inside it not mounted as the only way to mount it would be I suppose double sided tape.. which I may add. Anyways then I placed the lid on the box. I've checked it multiple times and it doesn't seem to have any heating issues. However it definitely has many conns that most of these pulsating boxes do not. The box I am reviewing, was truly weather proof, had very easy to use mounting brackets, and the indicator light was far easier to see in the daylight. I do highly recommend not buying this specific box, although the manufacturer and style is fine if pulsating will work for you, buy at least a 1 joule powered box, they actually sell the full 1 joule in the identical box and thats how I screwed up, thinking I went back to the one i was originally looking at and thought thats what i was ordering but i accidentally wound up on 0.1 joule which is essentially a static shock beefed up a bit. 1/10th what i meant to purchase. Once I realized that and that my dog could basically get over the fence in a literal second basically avoiding any shocks I almost bought a 2.5 joule pulsating before I finally located the only continuous box apparently still produced. I feel like a higher powered pulsating wire may have kept her in but when she goes into heat again I have my doubts, she has broken through a wall to get out so I went with what I know will work certainly. Either way good luck and happy shopping.
