I have never been one for poetry, but I read this while preparing for a trip to Ireland and I have never fallen more in love with a poet. Every poem, line, word is carefully crafted and chosen. I cannot give this book enough praise: I don't have the words for it.

Paula Meehan never disappoints ....
I love Paula Meehan's work - it never disappoints and this is no exception. These poems are so well constructed that you soon become unconscious that the 81 poems in this book all have nine syllables and nine lines. The rhythm and rhyming is varied and the content is colourful, personal, and imaginative. Paula Meehan, in my view Ireland's best living poet, is highly introspective while simultaneously engaging with the cultures and environments she encounters. She draws me in to her interior, her thought, her ambivalence and perspective on herself, others, and the world about her - its a world I like observing and am excited to be drawn into ...
