Fantastic
I saw a simple picture of Pettson and Findus on FB of Pettson cutting a Christmas ham and giving it to Findus. It was the sweetest picture. And someone told me it was from a series and I had to read it. And while I'm an adult this was such a wonderful book and the illustrations are wonderful. I will be buying the rest of the series not only for me but my niece, who loves cats just as much as I do. Really a good children's book. I highly recommend it.

Findus books are the best
I've purchased a number of these Findus books for my granddaughter over the years - she just turned 10 and loved this one just as much as the others. Findus is a wonderfully smart cat and Pettson is his keeper. I love the illustrations and the stories as much as she does!

Failure IS an option
As VERY amateur gardeners who have had about as much luck growing parsley from seed as Findus has growing meatballs or Farmer Pettson has cultivating anything else, my 5-year-old grandson and I thoroughly enjoy this delightfully illustrated story of the hapless farmer and his remarkable cat. The plot, such as it is, offers the protagonists loads of challenges with no promise of success for either heroism or persistence. Its very subtle moral is twofold: doing something is more fun than doing nothing, and when unfortunate events happen, nothing good can come from blaming neighbors. Very Swedish, very realistic despite the fantasy of talking animals. My grandson's response to finding a grasshopper and later a caterpillar on our flourishing basil plant: "Well, it's their habitat too."

A treasured children's book
I loved reading the Findus and Pettson books to my children and now I buy them for my grandchildren. The author, Sven Nordquist, draws such interesting scenes that you can find sub-stories and subjects on every page. They are a delight to look at and read. I never tiered of reading them.

Not the best of this series
We are BIG FANS of this series and read them aloud to the boys often...However this one was felt like the author couldn't quite find the meaning ofhis story, (spoiler alert) while Findus does plant meatballs that is minimal tothe plot of the story... Which was a disappointment because that sounded so creativeand silly... Instead the book is about animals tearing up a garden. I would have given 2 stars, but the illustrations of these books are always fantastic.

SO MUCH FUN!
I gave myself the Findus books for a gift (I am an aged adult, not a child) and they are all just so charming. Delightful writing, fabulous illustrations, these are wonderful books. I'm sure children would love them, too, especially if there is a cat in the house. Anyone of any age, who loves whimsy, will love these books. I'd recommend getting all the Findus books. They are just so much fun!!!

I have grandchildren who absolutley love the books
I have been a big fan of the Findus and Pettson books. I have grandchildren who absolutley love the books. The stories are imaginative and humorous and the illustrations are amazing in the detail and color. FindusPlants Meatballs didn't quite meet expectations. The story and illustrations just felt a little thin.. My favorites; WhenFindus was Little and Disappeared,, Findus and the Fox , Pancakes for Findus, and Findus at Christmas..But that being said, I'm still a fan.

Pettson and Findus - the ultimate team!
Our grandson enjoys the Findus books - aside from the story line there is so much more going on on every page. The illustrations are great and I highly recommend these books for kids aged 3 and up.

Sven Nordqvist never disappoints
Another great book from the Swedish author. Funny illustrations and an original storyline. We like it a lot, though we still like the Birthday cake or the Fox chase the best.

a joy to read
Have bought all the Findus series for my grandson and he loves them. The stories are funny and well written.A great favourite because of their wonderful illustrations, too. You have to look really carefully to spot what the mice and insects are up to in the tiny detail! As for Findus and Pettson, their antics are hilarious - and children do love to see an adult being silly. Everything happens for a reason though, and always ends well.At 7 he is now reading them for himself, but has enjoyed them since he was 4.
