Good product, AND each socket has a red neon light. What, no wall mounting?
Each of the six sockets has a switch with a red neon light (or LED). I find this very useful, e.g. I can tell at a glance if I have left any sockets on.I now turn transformers off when I am not using them, e.g. a transformer for my desk lamp. Leaving them on is not only not green, it's a waste of money and a potential fire risk. There are (currently) not many 6-socket individually switched surge protected extension leads on Amazon. I was going to buy one made by Tacima but was put off by a few reviews of that product saying the same thing, namely that some of the switches do not work. This product costs more than the Tacima one. You get what you pay for. Safety is paramount on electrical items and I do not want to buy a cheap version. The action of the switches (smoothness of turning on & off) is fine. I have bought two non-surge protected extension leads from Amazon and they both have stiff switches - it seems to be a feature of cheap extension leads. On the contrary, this product gives me the impression that it is good quality.Someone put a comment on a Tacima review asking what the dimensions of the Tacima extension lead was. I don't know because I didn't buy it but if you want to know the dimensions of this (silver) extension lead, they are:Length - 43.5 c.m (but the cable protrudes from one end so it needs slightly more room)Height - 7.5 cmDistance between sockets - 5.5 cm (measured from mid-point of earth pin to mid-point of earth pin).As others have said, (hence 4 stars instead of 5) there is no recessed area on the rear for wall mounting. I can't believe this. Every extension lead I have ever bought has this feature.

Does the job but you would probably be better off not looking inside the unit
My specific purpose for buying this unit was to remove the existing flex and replace it with one that is four metres long that reaches around the corner of our room. I checked first by asking a question on Amazon and other owners replied confirming that the back is removable, it doesn't have concealed screws, or screws with unusual heads. There are screws on the back of the unit that you can undo to reveal the electronic connections inside so I was able to successfully replace the flex with a longer one and we are now using the unit as intended. The reason I am knocking off one star from my review is the quality of what I saw inside the unit. Each switch on the unit has an accompanying LED light to show that it's on or off, and there is a surge protector up one end. While the mains connections are of a reasonable quality all the extra wiring is merely built to a standard that achieves the job, and the LED light wiring is quite flimsy. The bulbs where the cable attaches that indicate whether the surge protection is working are held in place by wishful thinking. What I'm saying is that you might buy this unit and never experience a fault, but my guess is that it is not a unit that will have a long lifecycle and is more likely to break than one that has fewer features, and you are probably unwise to do what I did and open the unit up because you're likely to damage something in the process.

Quality extension lead
Have been running several of these for a few years now and just bought another. The construction is robust and good quality, and the design is a lot smarter than is typical for an extension lead. Most importantly, they have always proven reliable, although I'm not aware if the surge protection of my units has ever been tested in practice. Each socket is individually switched, the switches have a solid feel, and they are clearly marked ON/OFF. Individual LEDs also indicate which sockets are currently powered enabling their status to be checked from a distance if needed. However, there is no master power switch controlling all sockets which may be an issue for some applications - if this is needed the Belkin BSV603af2M is a good option - although the Belkin lacks individual switches which in most cases will be more useful. The only real fault is the lack of wall-mounts on the back, but if that is not an issue these are recommended.

High quality extension lead
I bought one of these Omega branded 6 way extension leads from KG electronics and liked it a lot, so I bought two more from them.As another reviewer points out, there are no screw holes for mounting, but that's OK with me. And there is no master on/off switch, which is also fine with me.What I like about it is the robust feel of the plastic and the switches. When you plug something in, it feels solid, it doesn't flex or creak. And the switches feel of a high quality too, giving a positive clunk as you toggle them.I've bought a similar lloytron product before now. The lloytron is often sold on Amazon using the same product photo, but it isn't the same product! The lloytron one has screw holes in the back, so that's a plus, but it feels much cheaper to me. I returned them.

Excellent 6 gang extension lead
My son has so many electrical items in his room that we ran out of plugs. He doesn't use them all at the same time, but it was a real nuisance having to fiddle around with the main sockets every time he wanted to use a different appliance. I was therefore looking for an extension lead with individual switches, and was so pleased that I found this one. This has six individually switched sockets which is perfect. My son is able to switch each appliance on and off as he needs. I've had white extension leads in the past, and they tend to look very grubby quickly, so it was a bonus that this is silver, and another bonus is that it has surge protection. Highly recommended.

SCREW HOLES
The only things that I can fault this extension on are the fact that it does not have an on/off switch to isolate it from the mains, and also that it does not have any slotted 'screw holes' in the back to mount it onto the skirting board. Other wise seems to be very good.

Great surge protector
This is a very good item. Individual switched sockets are very useful, the only reason that I did not give it 5 stars is that you cannot wall mount the surge protector as there is not the facility with mounting holes on the rear of the socket. Other than that very happy
