A Terrific Way to Cook
I love being free of fuels and public services that may or may not be available in time of need. I live in a place with a good amount of sun, so this is a good investment for me. It costs more than $400 but so do a number of barbeque grills, and this device suits my particular cooking style better. It is well designed, works very well, and produces things I want to eat. Using it is not as simple as transferring your food from indoor cooking to outdoor; there is a simple learning curve involved. There are YouTube videos on this product that help one get acquainted, and a few cookbooks on the subject (none of which I have). I just treat it like a slow cooker and pretty much use those recipes. I am very pleased with my purchase and feel it will serve me well for years. Since they are used in Antarctica (well insulated), I do believe it will do well in winter as well.

excellent but not without flaws
one of the best investments ever for boondocking / off-grid living. zero fuel costs, forever. requires no time or effort to set up, does not require gathering or processing wood or constant tending as wood stoves do, no expensive often hard to find limited capacity polluting petroleum industry products involved, no cleanup. this oven literally saves me an hour or two of effort every time i use it compared to alternative cooking methods. in that sense absolutely life changing and unquestionably worth the up front cost and storage space, very highly recommended!on the other hand considered in terms of ergonomics, functionality, durability and aesthetics the design has numerous shortcomings (poor wind handling, cheap / mismatched hardware, hard to clean, wonky stand) that could easily be improved in obvious ways. it seems like the company has not further iterated the design since the first version. considering no direct competition whatsoever exists in this market category perhaps simple complacency explains this, at the moment still the only and thus very best solar oven of this type available for purchase.definitely worth the investment.

If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen . And cook in your yard.
Absolutely love it, easy to use.The only faults are :-Manual not included you have to download it.-The adjustable leg is not user friendly. You better have it adjusted ahead of time without the rack or food in it.- amazon jacked up the price , a month ago the “all American sunoven” site was close to 100.00 less. Was it a sale?Overall I’m very happy

Works well
The sun oven is truly versatile and cooks a lot of dishes. I’ve done a variety of things and they all turned out well. I live where there is really good sun so never have a problem. It’s easy to use and you never have to worry about burning anything. Only thing to consider is you have to watch for the size of pan/pot you use as many pans, cookie sheets, etc just do not fit in the oven. I always feel a sense of accomplishment when I can make dinner without spending a dime for any fuel. All free with the sun.

You can even bake little bundt cakes in this thing! At 44 N in May!
The stacking pots are great - did rice in one and veggies in the other - worked very well! But here's the BEST PART. I can bake little tiny bundt cakes in there!!! I made a batch of Lemon Poppyseed batter from The Moosewood Cookbook: 40th Anniversary Edition and baked it in a Nordicware 9 Cup Bundt Quartet Pan . It came out great! Here's the trick I learned: if I let the glass lid stay just a tiny bit open (by not clamping it down), the moisture wouldn't condense on the underside of the glass and block solar gain. So you have to leave a tiny crack to let the steam escape. This is very fun. I mean, who doesn't love sun cakes?! LOLOL

Well made
The only thing that I was not happy with was the lack of printed instructions

not well designed
i sent it back. i found another that was better designed. it was hard to use. the sun is blinding you while you reach over flimsy panels to turn two tiny hinges to unlock the door that swings up. then you have to reach in and try to get your food out with two screws that were sticking out at least 1 1/2 inches.
