Guitarist Charlie Byrd came into international prominence with his collaborations with Stan Getz in the formative days of the Bossa Nova movement. Rising star guitarist Nate Najar was attracted to Byrd's playing whilst taking guitar lessons at High school in Washington D. C. Nate admired the simple elegance of the Charlie Byrd style-sounding as it did as if that was the 'right' way to do it. Here Nate plays Charlie's actual guitar in similar style but committed to maintaining his own individuality while still paying tribute to Charlie. He chose the songs based on Byrd's affinity for a great melody and fine composers of the 20th century. As Charlie's widow Becky says ''There is no doubt that there is a piece of Charlie's soul in Nate's mind, heart and fingers. Get ready world - here comes Nate Najar!''

BLUES FOR NIGHT PEOPLE
Having had the privilege of seeing Mr. Charlie Byrd perform live in the mid/late 1990's was a real treat. That just solidified by already peaked interested since hearing many of his early recordings post and pre Bossa Nova eras. So when I first heard BLUES FOR NIGHT PEOPLE, I thought that it was an un-released recording by Mr. Byrd, but as it turned out the recording by Mr. Nate Najar, is [to me] a wonderful tribute to Charlie Byrd. A recording that I - needed - in my collection. So it looks and sounds as though I will be adding some of Mr. Najar's recordings to my library.

Must-Have for Blues/Jazz lovers
Najar at his finest. I do love all of his works, but this is a must-have for any blues/jazz lover's library. If you don't own any of his works, you might be interested in "Nate Najar Trio" works or "Nate Najar Quartet" works, as well featuring John Lamb, Chuck Redd, et. al. If you are ever in the St. Petersburg, FL area, search out concert dates at the Palladium.

Homage to Charlie Parker
Excellent playing. I enjoy the tracks and the skill of this ensemble. Najar's Ramirez 1A sounds as cool today in this musical context as it did 40 years ago in the hands of Charlie Byrd. Each of the three musicians are highly proficient and their musicality bring these pieces to life A great listen.

A Great tribute to Charlie
This is a great album. His best album to date. If you like Charlie then your gonna love this. If Charlie were young and playing today, this is what he would sound like.
