Lorenzo Castillo Rag Book – Illustrated, March 20, 2018

Worth every dollar. Beautiful book.

It's OK. I must learn that at this point I should only buy decorating books that feature a special designer or that are a must in my library. This is a book featuring the work of a designer that repeats himself through his work selected for it. The first spread, which is his own home, is the best one. After that, it becomes boring. It will just fill my bookcases, like many of the books I have purchased lately.

I am blown away by any negative review of this book, but more importantly the Designer Lorenzo Castillo. This book gives you so much inspiration, to take your home to that dreamy place that only a designer like Lorenzo Castillo, can take you. He is a rare talent!

Amazing

The book is well made and photographed, don't get me wrong but Lorenzo's style has lost its initial freshness. Out of all the homes photographed His houses are the best in the book although they seem a bit contrived. As for client's houses others it seems he decided to increase his fees by overdoing it on fabrics. Heavy lined chintzy curtains in the Caribbean? Really? Too matchy-matchy, heavy and stiff. He's (or was) capable of doing better.

I consider him possibly the best or one of the best designers at this time. It is a comfortable style, colourful, but not over the top, has a destinctive approach and is deffiniately European, which means...no patterned and coloured wallpaper that matches the sofa or curtains and that preferably in light blues, which many American designers seem to do. It is classical without beeing caught up in it, but with a modern approach. On top of it, he comes across as a real "simpatico" if one can say that after reading a book where everyone presents themself from their best side, but it helps. This is probably one of the best design books I bought in recent years and I have a lot. Iloved everything about it and personally would only have more coloured walls, but that is personal taste

Quick delivery, quality interiors, very inspiring

I bought this expensive book (well as a present for Easter) because I know LC from AD Spanish. I wanted absolutely smack-head wonderful interiors. Well - when he shows his own homes this is the result - like the front cover pic. It's mad and terrific. But a lot of the book is about his clients houses and they are boring. Lots of fabric covered walls. Yawn. The only thing that kept me from chucking it is his own homes have a lot of 18th C engravings which happen to be what I'm really into at the moment.
