A good read; not easily categorised
I enjoyed reading this story, which is a mix of polemic about the evils done in the name of Empire, and a romance. It has a twist at the end which I wasn't quite sure about.

Disppointed with ending
The story was quite shocking in places as I was raised in East Africa it opened my eyes to some truths. However I found the ending disappointing.

VERY ENJOYABLE BOOK
I really enjoyed this book which moves along at a good pace and with humour. The story is set between countries, and from the past to the 1990s. Apart from the obvious research that has gone into the historical events, and the good descriptions of the visited countries, it is also a book that tackles emotions and the idea that all families have 'skeletons in the cupboard'. You might think you know someone, but you don't. I agree with another reviewer that I couldn't reach the same decision as Nick and Jasmin, but a good read should always make you think and not necessarily agree with an outcome, despite understanding it.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book
Thoroughly enjoyed this book, the level of detail regarding the historical events and locations really enhances the book and demonstrates the high quality of research and writing. It is one of those books that I was still thinking about days later, particularly due to the interesting path the book takes. Very entertaining and I would highly recommend.
